What Do You Know?

Ever wonder why some people or businesses behave or sound a certain way on the Internet?

There is a simple explanation for this. But most people are clueless.  And that’s okay.  You can’t know everything.

So, you want to know a secret?  The reason they do this?

SEO.  Search Engine Optimization.

It’s such an over-hyped catch-phrase that it almost doesn’t mean anything in today’s world.

The catch-phrase doesn’t, but the outcome does. It’s a strategic, competitive advantage.

The redundant use of important keywords.  In the title, body and tags is what baits search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing and others, to move what you post higher on their search pages.

Here’s another little secret.  If you ain’t on the first page, you’re disadvantaged.

You know who ends up on the first page on Google, Yahoo, and Bing?

The people who work the hardest.

The Art of Compromise

It's Who You Know
It's Who You Know

Heard this phrase the other night, probably on the TV as I was walking though a room, and I wrote it down.

“The art of compromise.”

We can take guesses as to what this means, or we can simply make up our own meaning. That’s what I did, and came up with five different ways:

  1. Compromising our mind, intellect
  2. Compromising our body, health
  3. Compromising our spirit, faith
  4. Compromising our money, career
  5. Compromising just about everything, CEO of Me, Inc.

The comment’s intent targeted the Senators power to say “no” to President Obama – relationships and the passing of President Obama’s Health Care Bill.

Some Senators held their vote until they got a really good deal for their state. This had people debating it’s fairness, and the Senator’s enormous power to say, “No.”

At the end of the day, it’s really about relationships and who you know.

Or maybe, just maybe, it’s about who you no.

Indecision May Or May Not Be

The Ledge - 103 Floors Up

“Indecision may or may not be my problem.”Jimmy Buffett

Ain’t it da truth?  This is one of the many reasons I’ve been challenged to do a better job at living out my dreams.

Please don’t get me wrong, most people have a pretty good batting average – we do many of the things we say we’re going to do.

We also, because we’re human, don’t do a lot of the things we say we’re going to do.

The antidote?

Find your higher purpose.

And, be prepared to work harder than you ever have in your life.

An Olympian at age 50?
An Olympian at age 50?

December 21, 2009.  Can you believe it? Ten days until 2010 begins. A few questions we may consider asking ourselves.

Where did the time go?

Am I happy with what happened this past year?

Did I do what I said i was going to?

Did I do something every day that scared me?

Did I pray every day for my Family, Friends, and especially to all those people less fortunate?

Did I act in accordance with my loftiest thoughts?

Did I help make the world a little better place to live?

Did I strive for balance in life’s big four – Mind, Body, Spirit, Money?

Do I have a plan for 2010?

Life Is Good @ 1 Push Up A Day

Life Is Good if you can do one push up per day.  Do that for a week.  Then, the next week, do two push ups per day.

Continue to add one push up per day, for every week since you started.

Oh wait, I can already read your mind, “This is stupid”.

If I fail at anything, it’s almost always because I don’t stick with it.

Over a decade ago, I vowed to accept the challenge contained in this post.  I thought, “How hard could it be.  Seriously”?

Sticking with it has created a life-changing path for me.  If you have any motivation in you, may I challenge you to read this – Hello World

Carpe diem, jeff noel  🙂

PS.  I did this for two years – 104 pushups in one day.  Now I do 40, two or three times per week.
