jeff noel is a jerk!

jeff noel is a jerk!

Maybe.  Maybe not.

Depends on your definition, and Dictionary.com defines: jerk: Slang. a contemptibly naive, fatuous, foolish, or inconsequential person.

One thing for sure, and writing all these blogs helps make things clearer.  Putting thoughts on paper requires you to inventory what your values, beliefs, etc, are.

And I’ve come to a conclusion.  To some, I am definitely a jerk.  To others, a refreshing, and challenging way to look at life.

Of course, there is complete unscientific bias here, but I have to agree with the later.

Professional Speaker jeff noel

Professional speaker, jeff noel, gives speeches to change the world.

I never give the same speech twice.

I’ve been called audacious, by a former Disney leader.

On a good day, I’m uncommonly insightful.

Just wanted to share this.  Sounds boastful, but it’s true.

World’s Biggest Search Engine?

What’s the world’s biggest search engine?

Trick question here.

Still think you know?  Google?   Yahoo?  MSN?  Ask?  Bing?

Try this.  Your mind.

Told you it was a trick question.

Now for the next trick.

How much of it, and how often, do you search with it?

Try this.  Go look in the mirror.  Do you have the answers to your big questions?

Be creative.  Be focused.  Be  disciplined.  Be patient.  Or not.  But please don’t complain to me if you don’t use the biggest search engine out there.

Carpe diem.  If not today, when?  jeff noel 🙂

Shhhh, it’s a surprise

My wife and I decided this year to do something a bit different from our usual tradition.

Each year our son’s birthday is a pretty big production.  Cheryl is amazingly gifted as a planner, organizer, and she absolutely delivers the goods.

Don’t know how she does it.  Seriously. She works harder at her job than just about anyone at Disney.  Biased?  Of course.  But you know me by now, I calls ’em likes I sees ’em.

Anyway, there isn’t going to be a big par-tay this year.  Chapin is cool with that.

But there will be a big gift.

We got it today.

At the Apple Store.

I planted a seed with him today, “I’d like you to think about ways you can make money.  I’d like you to think about ways you can help me with my retirement business.  If you do, I can pay you”.

His eyes lit up.

The world is changing.  No secret there.  What I will not wait for, is to find out how it’s going to change.

Instead, I’m determined to write my own ticket, so to speak.

That’s right, many people think a young child can not help an adult build a business.

People say a lot of things can’t be done, mostly because of doubt, fear, jealousy, guilt, etc.  I get that.  Been there myself.

But not any more.  Carpe diem, jeff noel  🙂

Olympic Village Experience

While the 2009 World Master’s Athletics Track & Field World Championships are a far cry from the real Olympics, in terms of times and distances, it’s very much the same in many other respects.

Take last night.  I’m in Sokos Hotel, unable to sleep.  I’m seriously unable to even think about sleep.

One last trip downstairs to the front desk to ask for a 2AM wake-up call and review my bill.  Then five steps to the main Lahti street sidewalk.  Deep breaths.  Cool, crisp air.  Maybe 10PM-ish.

Head back through the open air lounge to the elevator…

“Want to trade”?, I hear an accent I don’t recognize.

Two Finnish athletes and their wives, engaged me in conversation. Come to find out Mauno, the Finnish Pentathlete, would like my Team USA top and is willing to trade his Suomi (Finland) top.

It’s a moment like this, sort of frozen in time like a childhood dream, that reminds me of what a privilege and honor it is to represent the United States and try humbly to live up to the Olympic reputation of great sportsmanship.

I went upstairs and finished packing.

And if there would have been more time, I would have slept like a baby.
