jeff noel Hates Vacation

Okay, so I made that up. But you know there are some people who actually hate vacation, because vacation takes them away from their medicine.

Huh?  Yes, their medicine. As a workaholic myself, from a long line of workaholics, being busy and then suddenly not being busy, well, you can almost see the panic rush in.

And honestly, I’m having a moment right now that has me wondering, “How bad is my disease?” Today is the first day of a two-week vacation.

How will I function if I don’t have anything pressing at work?

Just for the record, I do NOT hate vacation, but here is the short list of things jeff noel does hate:

  1. Mosquitoes
  2. Cock Roaches
  3. Termites
  4. Whiners

jeff noel Five A Day

We are never so poor we don’t have something to give.

We are never so rich we don’t have something to receive.

Ever thought about that?

For me, not too much, until our Priest shared it on Sunday. But I wrote it down, it was that powerful, in that moment.

Later, it hit me. It reminds me of who we are as human beings.

And then, humbly, it helped me process why writing five-a-day daily blogs is now an important part of my life.

Are you doing all you can?

LinkedIn Out Of Nowhere

A recent email immediately gave me an idea for a blog post.  And the email was triggered by a LinkedIn contact.

LinkedIn is designed primarily as a professional, business-like social network.

Think of it this way:

  • My Space = your bedroom
  • Facebook = your living room
  • LinkedIn = your office

LinkedIn mostly is a social network where business professionals can share how smart they are.  You know, posting their resume for the entire world to see.

And this is powerful because LinkedIn has something like 40+ million users and is reported to grow to 200-300 million “soon”.

Those who know me well, know that I’m as focused and disciplined as they come.  And I can dress up in a suit and look like I run the joint. But I prefer cut-off jean shorts and barefeet.

Don’t believe me, check out my LinkedIn profile.  It ain’t your typical “I’m so smart, I’m so smart. I’m so smart” resume. Mostly, because, well, honestly, I’m not the brightest bulb in the box.

Anyway, I use LinkedIn as a micro-blog. Every day posting a new status update.  Today’s was simply, Jeff Noel doesn’t think you’ve been to this blog yet: https://jeffnoel.org It’s a dot org

Got Tree?

Yes, got tree!  And a fire in the fireplace.

Yesterday.  It was cold (65 degrees).  This is cold for Central Floridians. Seriously.  And yes, Central Floridians realize that this fact is fairly obnoxious to those of you living in colder regions.

By the way, most Floridians originally are from somewhere cold.

So we know what cold really is, but we now like the way it rolls off our tongue, “Oh, it was cold yesterday.  It only got up to 65 degrees!  I had to put on socks and a jacket.”

Stay warm, and make your Monday great.  It’s up to you.  Always has been.  Always will be.  Carpe diem!
