Charlie, EJ, and Chapin (at EJ’s birthday party at his pool, 2005). What kid isn’t into life for the fun of it all?
Family epiphany?
Yes.
No one lives forever.
Life is a great big mystery contradicted by the big three:
science
dogma
religion
i’m not here for a long time, and i’m ready to be here for a good time, with whatever time remains.

While still at Disney Institute, i’d travel to places that were close to the middle of nowhere. Always felt at home there.
Addiction is a useful and a deadly habit.
Addiction is another word for unbreakable habit.
Love and fidelity are useful habits.
Tobacco and alcohol, potentially deadly.
Intentional prioritized priorities are useful.
Unintentional unprioritized priorities are potentially harmful.
And so on and so forth.

Sanibel Island. Every Summer. Cheryl and i vacationed here for a decade or so before our son was born. Then every year of his life for the next 20 years.
Happy June 1, 2026.
While the Summer Solstice is three weeks away (June 21, 4:54am), Since childhood, i’ve always celebrated Summer’s arrival on June 1st.
Why?
Maybe the most basic, accurate answer is, “it feels instinctual”.
Ps. Why wait three more weeks for the “Summer spirit” to arrive?

Everyday that we follow our dream is a risk. Because it might not come true.
Does your audience care about what you have to say? Can you tailor it to different groups?
Prepping for next week’s Disney Creativity Keynote Speech in Madrid. Some notes on a post-it note.
Before (or maybe after) my Madrid keynote.
Madrid keynote. During the speech. Jumped down to the floor. Did some stuff.
The Keynote began with a few jokes and then everyone taking a selfie.
The Keynote ended with a quick change into jeans and a Pixar tee-shirt. Always wanted to do it.
Is it a human privilege to make mistakes?
i think it is.
i’ve made more mistakes speaking than most people have made speeches.
The privilege of making mistakes is only for people who act.
Why?
Intentional action leads to outcomes.
Outcomes lead to learning.
Learning leads to growth.
Growth is the essence of life.
Have always said this, “i never give the same speech twice.”
Why?
The brilliant concept of continuous improvement.
A great concept.
Few, maybe less than 1%, have it in their DNA.
Disney does.
If Disney Ran Your Life is my DNA’s mantra.
.think .differently

In one month he went from being last to shaving 7 minutes off his 5k time. Text from Chapin’s Cross-Country coach.
One is easy. The other two take a lifetime of commitment.
A few times in our lifetime, someone comes along with a dramatic breakthrough, disrupting everything.
Am i time poor? And, does it even matter?
Time poor is when you are so busy, you cannot afford to waste any time.
You are living without any discretionary time.
No extra time to do something that isn’t required.
Now, i’m embarking on a time-rich life.
There’s a catch, however.
i only get one day at a time.
Every day i get on this planet isn’t one less day to be alive, it’s one more day to be alive.
Yee-ha!
