Just Give Up, OK?

Hope Is Free
Hope Is Free

How often do you feel like giving up?  Like quitting? Like what you do doesn’t matter? That the effort is too much, the payoff too little?

Received an email today. Compelled to share it.  And it wasn’t from a blog conversation, but a LinkedIn connection.

We connected, like people do, and I sent a personal message, like I always try to do, mentioning, “I am selling hope, and it’s free.”

He sent back a reply, which was a little confusing, so I asked for clarification.  He said:

“I mean it’s about putting it out there.  My dad’s quote (and every dad’s?) – You’ll only get out of life what you put in …Keep selling hope – we all need it.”

Did you catch that?  What his Dad always told him?

“You’ll only get out of life what you put in.”

Why It Works

Did You Check The Oil?
Did You Check The Oil?

Transforming oneself is an elusive goal.

Hell Heck, most people don’t even consider doing it. Well, most people do, until we realize how much it’s going to cost.

And it’s at this very moment when a 1971 Fram Oil Filter campaign slogan comes to mind, You can pay me now or pay me later.”

The reason getting started on your life changing transformation is so important is because, well, you simply have to start.

Then, the tricky part. The part most people can’t handle. Never stopping.

Bob Dylan, the folk-pop-rock icon of the 1960’s and 1970’s once said, “He who’s not busy being born, is busy dying.”

And the longer you wait, the more it costs.

Editor note:  These conversations are always to myself. If it strangely sounds like I’m talking to you, it’s merely a coincidence.

“Knowing never equals doing”Mariah Smith

There are a ton of smart people who never fully apply themselves.

Reading lots of great books is nothing really, unless positive action is the result.

It’s like watching a ton of sports and knowing a ton about sports, but you’re not in sound physical condition.

Never one to be accused of, or associated with, intellectual giants, I have often been called crazy. Crazy is often a poor attempt to define someone as “special”.

Having ideas is nothing.

And I finally did something about it a year ago.

Nine years left in my ten year plan.

How far out do your plans go?
