A leader pursues a home-life frontier

wisdom quote
Two mistakes: Not starting. Not finishing. This is a picture, not a video, fyi.

A leader pursues a home-life frontier. A manager pursues a home-life checklist.

A life spent running your home as If Disney Ran Your Life versus running your home as if running it like a business is illegal, immoral, stupid.

Got the number

Disney Casting Center last night. Drove by on the way home, after being dropped off at my car.

Got the number.

It’s super low.

We both see how valuable our working relationship can be. This is accentuated by a five year working relationship.

What i have not yet been able to do is get the owner to see this as a once-in-lifetime bargain, even though it’s a high dollar contract.

What price do you pay for organizational vibrancy?

Obnoxiously in the zone

This is what a zealot looks like, at least the Disney/Glacier version.

Obnoxiously in the zone.

What?

i’m experiencing a David versus Goliath type of business freedom that i never saw coming.

Never dreamed of this freedom.

Never wished for this powerful freedom.

What is Goliath going to do if i walk away?

What seemed like a sure thing for Goliath is looming as a loss. And not only a loss, but a once in a lifetime loss.

Why?

Long story short: world-class, time-tested wisdom, expertise, and enthusiasm in a rare, unquestionably trustworthy partner is gone forever.

And for me?

A loss i hate to take but one i can afford.

Smile, it’s a nice reflection on you

Stumbled upon this angle last night.

Smile, it’s a nice reflection on you.

This is a mantra for Disney Call Center Cast Members. It’s also a mantra for all Guest-facing roles. Sound business wisdom for leaders and, well, everyone in an organization.

Quickbooks revelation

First view coming out of the tunnel.
Ptarmigan Tunnel hike view after passing through the tunnel. The posts from that day didn’t share many scenic photos.
On left edge you spot two people about to go back through the tunnel to the Swiftcurrent (southern) side.
Hiked to there, about one mile from where i’m taking this photo.
The path down, and North, has a rock wall ledge (left) for maybe 100 meters.
Cloudy skies conceal much of the rocks energy. When the sun breaks through, magnificently different.
Ahern Glacier (left) and Old Sun Glacier (right) on the top horizon. Only visible as i walked well past the tunnel exit.
About to head south and back to Swiftcurrent Motor Inn.

The paperwork of life is a challenge.

Add a small business’s paperwork on top of your life’s paperwork and you have a perfect storm for daily overwhelm.

Quickbooks for self-employed people is a perfect tool for putting structure and process in place.

Yesterday while preparing for year-end closure and a new year income tax filing, i discovered that business expenses under $75 do not need a receipt.

While i have digital/photo receipts for everything, finding them is a different story.

This significantly helped me get completely caught up for YTD FY 2019.
