Shedding’s superpower

Apple photos app screen shot
Upper left. There’s a six-digit number under the word “Library”. That number compiles everything past 2013.

Shedding creates fearful feelings.

Shedding is permission.

Shedding is freedom.

On the shedding menu are:

  1. Fear
  2. Regret
  3. Freedom
  4. Joy
  5. Vibrancy

This was a fun thread to write today.

Note: The new-age challenge with digital is that the storage space is invisible. There are 200,000 photos/videos on my phone. If they were physical photos and movie reels, i’d be a clear contender for hoarder of the year.

The Kookaburra is the signature sound you hear in jungle movies. We’ve heard it several times over eight weeks. We have yet to see one though.

Doing what you love and living within your means is not the only goal.

Mental, physical, and spiritual vibrancy should accompany artistic passion and prioritized stability.

It’s common for many to think a life of career sacrifices leads to a payoff in retirement.

Equally important to remember that work sacrifices (always) ripple into home sacrifices.

It is helpful to think and write to myself about this concept.

Why?

Because yesterday it was easy to feel guilt. My private thoughts, if expressed publicly, would sound like gloating. i am not a gloater, yet my private reflections felt boastful.

We have been here over two weeks and have revisited all the places and things we enjoyed most from our five-week trip six months ago.

So this final week we are reflecting more seriously about all the things we get to do here. We know we will likely never return. Australia’s Sun Coast is nice, yet it isn’t much different than Central Florida.

Therefore, i close today’s writing knowing that we (me and Cheryl) have earned this time to do what we want, when we want, and not feel guilt.

Because he has been.
