Opposites, home

hand written note on post it
Ask senior leadership if they continually invest in training and development. Wait for their ‘no’. Then ask them, “Who communicates more about your brand than the way your front line interacts with your customers?”

i don’t have the answers, i have the questions.

What’s in your calendar?

Looking back two decades ago. It’s fun to do the math. The math is my vision back then and how that vision manifested over 20 years to today.

Decluttering frees you to get to the important stuff.

The personal leadership stuff.

The stuff that makes you happy.

The stuff you will never regret doing or getting better at.

Shedding’s superpower

Apple photos app screen shot
Upper left. There’s a six-digit number under the word “Library”. That number compiles everything past 2013.

Shedding creates fearful feelings.

Shedding is permission.

Shedding is freedom.

On the shedding menu are:

  1. Fear
  2. Regret
  3. Freedom
  4. Joy
  5. Vibrancy

This was a fun thread to write today.

Note: The new-age challenge with digital is that the storage space is invisible. There are 200,000 photos/videos on my phone. If they were physical photos and movie reels, i’d be a clear contender for hoarder of the year.

A microphone that works

End of year holiday decorations always exceed the first 10 months decorations.

Which would you rather have?

A microphone that’s always on and easily available?

Or a microphone that when used is heard by everyone you want to hear your message.

i follow a decent number of incredibly talented and smart subject matter experts on LinkedIn.

i consider myself lucky to pay attention to what they say.

The challenge for them (and me) is having an audience that cares about your subject matter expertise.

Most don’t.

Ps. And, your “followers” are probably not people who can write checks.

Home is leadership

Today’s going rate for peace of mind.

Home is your lifetime HQ.

Home can be a house, apartment, condo, an RV, a tent. If you don’t have any of those and all you own is what you can carry, then HQ is wherever you lay your head for rest.

HQ requires consistent, never-ending decision-making.

Noteworthy: Even in choosing not to make a decision, we’ve still made a decision. i decided quickly. Procrastination wouldn’t repair anything.

If i were the principal driver of this car, repair decisions could have been procrastinated. i rarely drive. And when i do, it isn’t far.

Our son is the principal driver. So i agreed to every repair recommendation the car repair place offered.

It began as a simple tire patch and replacing a turn signal lightbulb. This morning i traded $3,100 for peace of mind.
