Slow and steady wins the website race

Dormant
Nearly every company is sitting on dormant opportunities that will change everything. Why?

Truth be told, i’ve had websites since 2008 (eight years and counting).

Why no official, corporate looking Disney Speaker website?

Because…

Slow and steady wins the website race.

The reward for progress, even if it’s slow, is progress.

Seems so obvious.

Which begs the question, “Why aren’t more of us moving slower?”

If we were, we might actually create something remarkable.

The new Disney speaker website now has every page formatted as a “landing page”.

This is a major improvement, in my opinion.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

On the cusp with the website

Orlando Pulse Tragedy image on Twitter
Stumbled upon this on Twitter yesterday.

The photo above captures how many felt yesterday, and today, and probably for a long time.

To honor the fallen, perhaps the best way is to move forward with the opposite of fear, terror, and hate.

To that end, this is my hope and joy doing work that matters.

On the cusp with the website.

Some tweaks, some edits, some photos.

And it’s ready to launch.

Then the work on adding some simple, corporate, and different videos.

Oh, and an email subscription opt in, but for stuff i’ve never seen on other websites:

  • Latest podcast release (ok, i’ve seen that)
  • Hiring opportunities (i might ask for help)
  • Public Programs announcements (it might be in you neck of the woods)
  • Guest appearances (others may have me on their show)

Organized to quickly replace two key must haves

Organized to quickly replace two key must haves.

Lost my driver’s license and my (only) personal credit card.

Retraced the 10 miles on my bicycle but they were gone.

One quick call and a new card arrives in 24 hours.

One website visit and i file a police report and ordered a replacement driver’s license.

This is when having a Passport is a great backup. Have a business trip before the new license arrives.

This was stressful for a very brief time.

And i managed the website stress by calling a “timeout” – changed the deadline and breathed a sigh of relief.

Simplicity is critical for personal and organizational vibrancy

Apple iPhone replacement
Ordered some new iPhone 6s’s yesterday.

Productivity is something everyone wants to excel at.

The challenge is managing all our competing prioritites.

My websites are simple on purpose.

Now i’m wondering if they could get even simpler, yet more sophisticated – without looking sophisticated?

Could my speaker site, jeffnoel.com look like Apple.com ?
