L-R: Dennis, Jack, me. Leaving Anchorage, Alaska airport for The Hotel Captain Cook, downtown.
Acknowledging my past-Disney travel schedule.
Why?
Because the photo above just hit my feed.

This website is about our HOME. This is the fifth of five daily, differently-themed blog posts about: (1) mind, (2) body, (3) spirit, (4) work, (5) home. To return to Mid Life Celebration, the site about MIND, click here.
Using “kiddie backpacks” because they are better for a day on the trail.
Cheryl did a ton of yard work yesterday.
i didn’t do any.
On purpose.
Why?
Finished packing two small daypacks for Saturday’s trip.
The smaller your pack, the more intentional you pack.
Kinda like that saying, “I wanted to write you a shorter letter but didn’t have time.”
My packing is tedious by what cannot be taken. Simultaneously considering what is essential to stay safe in the wilderness.

10-second video: First walk at home in five weeks. Five days after Ian and the water is the strongest i’ve seen in 30 years at this exact spot.10-second video: Erosion is rare non-exisistant here. Until Ian.
Saved this photo for last today. Why? Because it is a situation that momentarily caused decent concern about not being able to get home last night.
About 50 of us boarded the plane and filled the jetway. We waited for a long time. Eventually, instructed to return to terminal gate. Something about a malfunctioning door was the rumor.
Yesterday’s posts highlighted how smooth the travel day was. And i shared that 2022 has been a ‘harrowing” travel year.
Almost like deja vu (the harrowing part).
And then hope was restored.
Our plane re-boarded and off we went.
Arrived Orlando before midnight.
Arrived home near 1:00 AM.
Today has been slow and steady adjustment back to Florida living.
Jet-lagged.
Lots of Hurricane Ian cleanup.
Blessed beyond measure.

Why? Because the road to excellence has no finish line.
Someday, i will walk with only a stick.
A stick with a small bag of Magical beads tied on the end, or some such Rafiki-like vibe.
