It may be uber-underrated

Everyone calls Glen, “Hop”. Tammy and Hop live here and are gracious hosts. i spent two nights in the office above the front door.

Being organized may be uber-underrated.

Why?

Because many of us have never tasted being decently organized as an adult.

So, focusing on improving is never motivating because we ask, “What’s the point?”

Being in control.

That’s the point.

You’re either in control or you’re not.

Given a choice, the choice is obvious – be decently organized.

Seriously serious?

Seriously serious?

Be serious about being organized.

Be serious about having fun.

The two are not mutually exclusive.

The catch?

You (and you alone) have to figure out what works best, and you must be prepared to learn and adapt as you go.

The bonus?

You can seek advice from other organized people, and learn the harsh realities of being unorganized from personal experience and observation of other unorganized people.

Analogy

Analogy…

Knowing you should work out, knowing where the gym is and how much a membership costs, etc, etc…is not the same as being vibrantly healthy, because vibrancy requires that you actually breathe life into your health routine all day, everyday.

So in moving from physical vibrancy to organizational vibrancy, knowing that being decently organized makes a person’s life better…is not the same as putting structure and processes in place, continuously improving, and using that to keep up with the paperwork of life.

Giving as a way of life

Ubered home from Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

Giving as a way of life.

Giving to yourself.

Giving to your Family.

Giving to your colleagues.

Giving to your community.

Giving to the world.

Any of the above are challenging to do when you are not decently organized.

Even more out of reach is doing them all when not decently organized.

But it’s so liberating

So many books – there are books crammed in horizontally on top of vertical rows. Note: what works for one may not for another. Not judging. Just comparing to my own standards.

But it’s so liberating.

What?

Being decently organized.
