Your cascading catalog of to-dos

Glacier National Park VRBO home on Lake McDonald.

Your cascading catalog of to-dos. It never ends. That’s the bad news.

The good news is that you are in charge and can do whatever you want, you’re the CEO of You, Inc.

You can devise a completely different structure and processes for handling your life’s to-do lists.

You can move to a different place in your organization. You can physically move to a different place to call home.

You can do whatever you want.

Will it be easy? No.

Will it seem impossible? Yes.

Will you let any of that stop you?

When you plan something

Apple Pen automatic setup with iPad
Yesterday. Keep learning. Keep pushing. Never settle. Never used an iPad as my main frame. Never used an Apple Pencil either. Retiring both 2015 MacBook 12″ “main frames” in the spirit of portability and proactive change.

When you plan something and then do it, your experience will fall into three ratings:

  1. Goes exactly as planned (rare)
  2. Goes worse than planned
  3. Goes better than planned

Last night’s Disney keynote speech was well worth it for Chapin to hear.

The format changed (adding a second speaker) before we attended (and after tickets were purchased) and the format changed a second time (Q & A instead of presentation) when we arrived.

The moderated Q&A was different and interesting.

It was not what i hyped to Chapin.

We had a decent debrief on the 40-minute drive home.

Bottom line, 100% worth our time, money, and effort.

Guessing i don’t owe you anything

quick books note
Slate is clear. It’s a new year to do what feels right and good.

The 2018 creative endeavor is done.

The goal: do something i’ve never done before. No expectation from anyone to react to my new behavior. None. You can never try something new if you aren’t willing to live with the consequences.

It sheds light and illuminates life with richer clarity than before.

With:

  • my personal Facebook account with only blood relatives and a handful of HS & College (40+ years relationships) friends
  • with texts
  • with emails
  • with phone calls

i didn’t initiate.

For a year.

The big reveal?

This was ok.

Why?

No one noticed.

No Facebook inquiries, no texts, no emails, no phone calls.

Turns out, what i felt guilty about, i didn’t need to feel guilty about.

Such a delightful surprise.

If the phone doesn’t ring, it’s me.

i hear you loud and clear too.

Glad this is okay on both sides.

All that worrying for nothing.

Freedom.

Gratitude.

Update (today, March 2): it’s now been 14 months, not 12.
