Saying goodbye to blogging

Saying goodbye to blogging.

Ever since April Fool’s Day 2009 when i began the prolific, five-daily, differently-themed blog post writing, i always wondered how long it would last.

The “impossible”, self-imposed 100-day writer’s bootcamp was never supposed to happen. Why? Because my previous record was two consecutive days. i literally was a fool to think i could write five daily posts for 100 consecutive days. Nope. Never gonna happen.

But i liked the goal’s absurdity.

And here we are.

Nearing the start of a 17th year.

On the cusp of completing a 5,844 consecutive-days run.

Note: Planning to start year 17 on April Fool’s Day 2025. Those five posts will publish November 19, 2025. Not planning to go farther.

Prioritizing Glacier

Not ready yet, but this will be the first step.

Used voice dictation to send myself this text. The idea came into my consciousness. And i was afraid i would lose it if i didn’t capture it right away.

How do you prioritize Glacier?

(How would anyone?)

Easy.

Remember that 1973 National Boy Scout Jamboree in Idaho?

How can i not?

Impossible not to remember.

That’s why prioritizing Glacier is easy.

So easy.

Like breathing.

Busy, busy at HQ

Busy, busy at HQ.

Lots going on. More than usual.

All in the name of continuous improvement.

Walking those seven miles today, a couple thoughts:

  1. How do i write an end to the prolific blogging?
  2. Does it need to be written about in some remarkable way?
  3. Could it end the way it began, humbly, simply, quietly?

Because right now is the first these questions surfaced.

Making a budget

Making a budget used to be simple.

  1. Do we have enough money at the end of the month?
  2. Do we pay our credit card bill in full every month?
  3. Do we auto-save money for the future?

Now…

Now it’s different.

Past few days i’ve been itemizing all our fixed and variable expenses.

Eye-opening.

Why change and refocus?

We are heading to a reduced, fixed income soon.

The goal?

Same three original goals, but without dual (or even single) professional job income. Zero jobs moving forward. Only pensions and Social Security. Exciting times.
