His office was nothing more than a wooden floor

Lower right, sitting on the floor, was HQ for 40 minutes yesterday.

His office was nothing more than a wooden floor. No chair.

You can see exactly where in the photo above. He sat in the lower right corner, back against the display.

He could have postponed the run until after the 9am call with the CEO, but instead, he began walking, hoping it would turn into a long run.

It did. Ten miles, eventually.

But 20 minutes later, it was time to find a quiet place for the 30-minute call.

Five months of slow, sporadic conversations.

He was glad he could call from anywhere.

This is growth.

And freedom.

Organized to be partners, even in retirement

Inspirational Keynote speech near Disney
Jack the Bear is retired too, but still working.

Would have been easy to forget to take Jack the Teddy Bear on the short drive to work last week.

Would have been easy to say it doesn’t matter anymore, your son is a teenager now.

Getting organized is one thing. Staying that way is entirely another.

Live like you mean it.

In spite of it all.

Be organized enough to do what you can

Disney's Casting Center building
Roofline at The Disney Casting Center

We also visited Team Disney, but photos are not permitted inside. We did get to see the world’s largest sundial, which is the building’s centerpiece.

Only one person knows that one of the four Disney Magic Moments was missed. Had coordinated with the Team Disney reception desk but the timing fell through. No one’s fault. But it demonstrates that creating Magic is hard work and doesn’t always work.

The other Magic Moment for Donna was receiving an autographed copy of Lee Cockerell’s new book, “Time Management Magic”. It happened in a most unexpected place by one of Disney’s hardest working and most respected Cast Members.

Haven’t been on a plane in seven weeks

Orlando WordPress Meetup at Canvs downtown

(photo: Downtown Orlando yesterday at Canvs.)

The message here is simple. Live like you mean it. Even when surrounded by an ordinary life filled with ordinary days.

Haven’t been on a plane in seven weeks. Normally in seven weeks, would have been on a plane between four to six of them.

Since retiring six weeks ago, Jack the Bear – who went on every Disney Institute trip – hasn’t been out much.

Just because we are local now, doesn’t mean we should just sit around.

Crystal Mickey and Minnie Mouse figurines at Epcot

(photo: Crystal Mickey and Minnie Mouse figures at Epcot’s Germany pavilion.)

Walking around Epcot’s World Showcase promenade had to stop at Germany to snap this photo.

Had to.

Today begins the second month of retirement.

What you don’t see is what we all keep private. The challenges and issues that are breaking our backs.

No one is immune.

Not even the happy folks at Disney.
