Closing in on push comes to shove. Really need to get that first Disney Business Culture book written and published.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

This website is about our home health. To leave this site to read today’s post on my mental attitude website, click here.

Big, epic failures are great catalysts

YuGiOh Tournament
Last weekend at YuGiOh Tournament. He inspired, and inspires, the prolific writing.

So yeah, it’s pretty insane.

And to be clear from a business perspective, this blog is unrelated to my speaking mission.

But seriously then, why blog so prolifically?

Well, i began blogging on April Fools Day 2009 as a 100-day self-imposed writer’s boot camp.

Driven by the realization that a book i had promised to write 30 years prior hadn’t had it’s first sentence written yet.

Ouch.

Big time.

Epic ouch.

The catalyst was driven by a fatherly desire to leave a trail for our son (then 8) in case something bad ever happened to me.

Shhh, here’s an epic secret. Prolific writing makes me a significantly different (and better, imho) speaker.

He read the Kindle version of Mid Life Celebration last night, then sent this email:

I read the Kindle version last night. I actually was telling a co-worker about your book today and told her she needed to read it as well. I also asked my wife to read it. It’s easily digestible and has some very powerful ideas.

Early on in the book, I really connected with you, the author.

“I discovered, nearing the age 50, that when our young son started looking for the face of Jesus in the real world, I did not want him to have to look any further than across the dinner table.”

That was so awesome! This was just one among many other passages that were really resonated with me.

I am 38 years old now, and I can say I really got the purpose behind your book.

I rated it 5 stars on both Amazon and GoodReads.

Writer’s block? Here are ten ideas for content:

  1. What you learned yesterday.
  2. What you get to do today.
  3. What you hope for tomorrow.
  4. Obvious or invisible paradox.
  5. Common sense that isn’t common.
  6. Simple questions few can (but should be able to) answer instantaneously and convincingly.
  7. Excuses, regrets, opportunity, second chances, and permission.
  8. Art. Your art. Art the world needs.
  9. Impossible things.
  10. Love.

One day you will suffer from writer’s flood. Please don’t cast blame this way.

You’re welcome. 🙂
