Almost there

Post it note with stereotypes
Brainstormed some stuff for tomorrow’s Keynote. Yes there’s a typo. Life happens.

Almost there.

Where?

To April Fools Day 2019.

So?

Exactly.

Yet…

Seems like yesterday.

What?

Nearly a decade ago on April 1, 2009, the 100-day, self-imposed writer’s boot camp challenge began.

Why?

i realized i had made a promise to myself to write a book to our kids about the best things i learned in my life.

Not only that realization, but also the realization that 30 years had passed since the “promise” and the first sentence had not yet been written.

Note. The 11th year starts 69 days from today as i write this but only 11 days as today’s five posts go live.

i can’t imagine writing five daily, differently-themed blog posts, on five different websites, for a decade without missing a single day.

When you plan something

Apple Pen automatic setup with iPad
Yesterday. Keep learning. Keep pushing. Never settle. Never used an iPad as my main frame. Never used an Apple Pencil either. Retiring both 2015 MacBook 12″ “main frames” in the spirit of portability and proactive change.

When you plan something and then do it, your experience will fall into three ratings:

  1. Goes exactly as planned (rare)
  2. Goes worse than planned
  3. Goes better than planned

Last night’s Disney keynote speech was well worth it for Chapin to hear.

The format changed (adding a second speaker) before we attended (and after tickets were purchased) and the format changed a second time (Q & A instead of presentation) when we arrived.

The moderated Q&A was different and interesting.

It was not what i hyped to Chapin.

We had a decent debrief on the 40-minute drive home.

Bottom line, 100% worth our time, money, and effort.

Never get bored with the basics

Disney Keynote Speakers
Time is money. Money is value. Value is investment. Investment is transformation.

Never get bored with the basics.

  • For example, you get what you pay for.
  • Invest in the best you can afford.
  • Don’t set the bar at the highest level and then balk at the work (and money) required for your attempt(s).

(Note: prices removed at the request of my booking Agent.)

Ala cart 2019 menu (think gym membership) has increased substantially from previous years to a more aligned world-class Disney speaking fee level: $__k net Orlando, $__k net if less than a six-hour flight, and $__k+ net for six hours or more flight.

•  •  •  •  •

Coaching (think private gym sessions): Compare the annual hours of actual call time plus invisible (to you) prep time. Also compare one 45-minute keynote in Orlando that yields $__k. For 26 hours (biweekly one-hour calls), what would the financial exchange be for the value placed on our time?

(Note: this post is a public way to capture a moment in time as i prepared to negotiate and renew a 2019 contract. It also serves as talking points for all new clients as well.)

Price options (local vs travel):

See above.

Note: i have gone first. Meaning i have offered you lower than i wanted to offer prices, even to the point of offering (twice) a free day so we could do in two days what you wanted to do in one. To prove i wasn’t trying to pad the invoice.

What happens next?

Winter Garden Florida
Downtown Winter Garden, Florida. Yesterday, December 22, 2018.

What happens next?

What?

When you think about how you’d like to be and you think about how it currently is.

What happens next?

Five secrets to life’s success (video)

People ask why i smile so much.

  1. Because i’m so grateful.
  2. Because i surrender to things i can’t control.
  3. Because i feed on uplifting messages, constantly.
  4. Because life is short.

PS. Today’s video delivers on #3.
