First day of Spring and the pool is open for business

Yesterday, the first day of Spring 2015, the pool temp reached 87.

While not comfortable enough to relax in, it was warm enough to wade in and appreciate that we are only weeks away from “Summer”, Florida-style.

So much work behind the scenes to make it look effortless.

And so it goes. Day after day.

In the midst of travel and long, long days, we managed our biggest homeowner expansion investment in two decades.

An in-ground pool and complete landscape makeover/expansion.

Cheryl says we may stay here this Summer instead of going to Sanibel Island like we always do.

Insight: Good things happen to those that wait, and work hard, and live simply. I still have never owned a new car. I’m 54.

Eventually, we harvest the fruits of our labor. Nine months after filling our new pool with water, the landscaping crew will be here this morning to begin the transformation from weeds to paradise.

Why did it take so long?

Maybe better to ask, how did you manage to not give up?

Yes, we’ve waited 53 years to build a backyard swimming pool. Living in Florida for almost three decades, you might be asking, “What took you so long?” For starters, pools aren’t free. And second, they do not clean and maintain themselves. But an 11-year old who’s outgrown a blow-up pool has inspired us to “Live, before we die”.
