#FTSD

Stop it!
What?
Racing for answers…
Why?
You know why…
….but have forgotten you know why.
And herein lies your brilliant opportunity…

Forced To Slow Down
#ftsd
Every situation, properly perceived, is an opportunity.
Slowing down will be painful.
Why?
You are alone with your life, your thoughts, your habits, and your situation.
Maybe for the first time in forever.
Your emotional friction is a result of imbalance.

You have everything you need, but you haven’t considered this, let alone convinced yourself of this.

#ifdisneyranyourlifepodcast is a 7-season guide lasting a year+. A weekly 15-minute regrouping.

Season 3 is the introduction to personal vibrancy and balance, and Season 3 concludes this Friday.

You know there are no shortcuts to the challenges you now face.

Personal rebirth takes time.

At 60, the honing of my habits and rituals, influenced by a lifetime at Disney, has made me a balance expert because i .think .differently about everything.

Seasons 4-8 unpack 5 individual topics: mind, body, spirit, work, home.

Listen sequentially, embrace the simple 72-hour challenges, lean into the discomfort of raising your bar, have fun with me and Jody and envision your future not only better than now, but much better. Enjoy the illustrative Disney stories too.

Organized to slow down?

Cinderella Castle
Walked behind Cinderella Castle, from Tomorrowland.

Organized to slow down?

What?

The world of work (which shadows our world at home) just got unprecedentedly more fearful.

Where is our income going to come from? How is our business going to survive?

LinkedIn, predictably, is polluted overwhelmed with pitches since President Trump declared a National Emergency March 11, 2020 (5 nights ago). Each day the pitches escalate as millions of entrepreneur’s financial lives have disappeared for an extended time.

People fighting to survive.

Millions.

i am one of the millions. Income from speaking has evaporated.

Meanwhile, at 60, my wife and i have spent a lifetime building our rainy day fund, one long, slow, decade after another.

Rather than panic, we are slowing down.

Slowing down helps us see things differently.

The difference between taking the Interstate versus the country road.

We do not need to take the Interstate to make great time. We have the time to meander through small towns, pull over at scenic points, and spend the night, unplanned, anywhere and anytime we want.

We have sown a lifetime of fast-paced living to reap the scenic route, full-time.

Organized to serve both

Living near Disney
Yesterday’s view while trimming a few trees.

Thanksgiving began with us serving others and ended with us serving each other. Cheryl and i did stuff around the house that we enjoy, but rarely seem to have time to enjoy. And by enjoy, i mean to do these things at an un-rushed pace – at a rhythm of life pace, not some “i need to check this off my list so i can move to the next thing” pace.

Cool weather and silly rewards

High School spirit week
Freshman jump to an early lead during Spirit Week.

Cool weather and silly awards. On the short drive home from the High School safety assembly, i stopped at Publix for a few groceries.

It was a surprising wonderful few moments.

Parking in the shade, the car windows already down, there was a great song on the radio. i sat in the car until it was over, and couldn’t remember the last time i did that without feeling the stress of being late.

The Fall air was cooled even further by the breeze and walking in in just a t-shirt felt wonderful.

Without a list, i grabbed a cart and began in the produce section and casually worked my way around.

Made (unrushed) small talk with employees at two stations. And had a nice talk with the young man who pushed the groceries to the car and loaded them in.

To top it off, as i turned onto our street, the family who will soon be breaking ground next to us sat on a blanket under an Oak tree – later they shared they were having a prayer service for all the animals (including the ants) that will be displaced by their future home.
