Worry about being in a hurry.
i am always busy, but never in a hurry.
This is the key to being present, mindful, and motivated.

Yesterday’s temp as i rode 20k to the gym. Midway, i had the thought you see below, which i transcribed in the iPhone Notes app so i wouldn’t forget.
The two things you need to be great are initiative and investment… You have to take initiative… and you have to invest time, money, and effort (in any combination)… otherwise, excellent progress will not be made… and dramatic leaps in personal or organizational vibrancy will never be realized.

Not only is technology cool, but so is initiative.
Through a Disney College Program Alumni Association, Stephanie asked for the opportunity to speak with me and ask questions. Neither of us knew it would last an hour.
Stephanie earned more time simply because she exceeded my expectations. She took the initiative (which was neither a requirement nor an expectation) to do some investigating (research) on the person she wanted to learn from.
Stephanie asked great questions.
She also revealed late in the conversation (which also exceeded expectations, because she never led with it to impress me) that she read 50 posts each on all five blogs (250 posts).
Wow.
She learned, eventually, how to use the easy hyperlinks to navigate from one website to the next. But that’s a story for another time.
She also ordered my book.
Initiative is difficult to hide.
Lack of initiative is also difficult to hide.
i talk to many ambitious people who are in the early stages of their career. Almost without exception, they ask without giving.
Stephanie stood out because she was a giver first.

And on the miraculous completion of the 100-day self-imposed writer’s boot camp challenge, where would i be if i had not decided to write on the 101st day?

At the risk of looking wishy-washy, I’m just gonna come out and say it. If you want to have great people and services working for you, be a great customer.
The second message is if you’re a great customer and the business neglects your love, fix it or move on.
Hint: If they neglect your love, it might be because you’re not a very good customer.
