Doubtful, home

social security application confirmation
This is such a remarkable milestone, here’s a second “completed” photo.

Doubtful there will ever be a desire to lower our standards.

What standards?

The ones we have for the community we live in.

Between the Orange County Code Enforcement guidelines and our Property Owners Association’s specific, uncomplicated, and modest requirements, the standards (when enforced) are all anyone needs to live peacefully. Respectfully.

Doubtful any community will ever see 100% respect and compliance.

Note: We have long been planning for a creative middle-ground. Life is good, even when it’s not excellent. Thank you Universe.

i knew them all

head in the sand mural on wall
Sometimes life overwhelms our home life…our job is to mitigate this each time it happens.

i knew them all…

Every one of our Property Owners Association residents…

Ever.

i’ve known them all.

Starting with the original ‘settlers’ (pre-1990)…

Abney, Vercammen, Rennells, Powell, Spore, Donkel, Renaldo, Nguyen (?, the ‘farmers’ with the pond).

And everyone since 1990.

We have always been a lowkey, pleasant community.

State Road 535 widened from two to four lanes between 2008-2011.

Either side of 2015 the future caught up with our community and we never collectively rallied around proactive, modern-day thinking.

The pressures of an attractive location near Walt Disney World, plenty of new housing and new infrastructure, year-round palm trees and sunshine, plus a never-ending exposure to global tourists….

Tension.

Ambition.

Fear.

It’s tested and grown my creativity, resolve, and optimism.

We will flourish again. Sooner rather than later.

How many hours can you afford?

Jody and me sitting next to Swiftcurrent Glacier. It’s massive and we can literally reach over and touch it. From this perspective, you’d never in a million years know about the massive Glacier, unless you trusted me to be telling you the truth. Or you can ask Jody, he took this photo and that’s his microphone.

If you don’t presently have a legal-fee line item budget in your Homeowner’s Association (HOA) financial statement, what’s your plan if you get sued for an accident?

How many hours of legal counsel can you afford?

Said another way, make sure you have personal financial resources to weather an unexpected legal nightmare.

Remember, there’s a reason things are called accidents.

There’s a reason things are called liabilities.

Obvious solution?

Most likely.

Turning the home page

Personally, in 2021 around town in my car, i drove 1,500 miles. Roughly 125 miles per month. Walked, jogged or bicycled to whatever needed.

Turning the home page.

Ukraine is not new. War is not new. Where do we go from here?

Pretend you’re new – reprise:

Your 40-year old neighborhood is moving into it’s next phase.

This phase represents what happens when you (meaning your town, city, State) become famous. Everyone wants a piece of the special goodness you discovered decades before the masses.

Our Publix grocery store is reputed to be the busiest in Florida.

Every cashier i ask estimates no less than half the grocery shoppers are tourists.

There are thousands of homes in every style and category within a five-mile radius.

It’s like living across the street from Disneyland’s property. If you’ve ever stayed in the Disneyland Hotel with a high room and a balcony facing West, you see the adjacent residential neighborhoods. Can you imagine?

Yes.

Why?

Because we live less than one mile from Walt Disney World.
