Waking up in your own bed, home

Everything you own that seems important to you is at your home.

Living away from that is a masterclass in stoic simplification.

i was probably between 55-60 years old when i first coined one on my favorite mantras…

Only pack what you can carry.

If it’s checked luggage, perhaps it’s too much.

Bonus: When i travel, my goal is one “kiddie-daypack”. If i need more stuff, i’ll take a second “kiddie-backpack”. The second one i wear across my chest. This process leaves me hands-free. Handsfree is an extraordinary way to travel.

What will it feel like?

What will it feel like when we land?

What will it feel like when we drive through our neighborhood?

What will it feel like when we walk into our home?

Final 24 hours in Australia, home

Kangaroo scat
In the wild, it’s helpful to be able to read animal scat. Why? It alerts you of who may be nearby or ahead of you.
Clouds
In the wild, it’s helpful to be able to read the sky. Why? It alerts you to what weather you can expect. Let’s assume no internet weather updates. Photo: Our balcony last night.

11-second video: The circle of life.

Reflecting on the past three weeks and the next 24 hours, this is a dominating thought about home life….

Prioritization takes focus and discipline.

Prioritization requires kindness, motivation, patience, and courage.

Priorities without kindness, motivation, patience, and courage is synonymous with sailing a ship without a rudder.

Prioritizing your priorities sets you free from imbalance.

To have focus and discipline is to have personal vibrancy Magic.

Note: We leave Mooloolaba an hour before sunrise tomorrow. Brisbane International Airport is about an hour drive south.

The Kookaburra is the signature sound you hear in jungle movies. We’ve heard it several times over eight weeks. We have yet to see one though.

Doing what you love and living within your means is not the only goal.

Mental, physical, and spiritual vibrancy should accompany artistic passion and prioritized stability.

Three Chalet Nights

empty dorm room
Sparse yet enough.

Each building has four four-bedroom apartments. That’s 16 bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, four kitchens, and four living rooms.

Turns out it’s about one mile to the summit. All of it uphill.

Our Pacific Beachfront apartment is in the right shoreline. Too many white condo buildings to pick it out specifically.

We said farewell to our Son’s Apartment.

He turned in his key and said goodbye.

During our first visit in January, we became friends with the new owner. Denise talked about having us visit their Brisbane hometown and see some sights. It didn’t work out but it was a nice thought.

Seeing his room empty again brought back memories of our first day six months ago. It also conjures up memories of our Glacier Chalet visits: sparse accommodations yet having everything you need.

Only days away from a three-week countdown to my 2024 return to the Continental Divide.
