Senior Year Day 2, home

Statue of Roy Disney
Roy came out of retirement after his brother died. Roy was not obligated. But he did it anyway.

Roy Disney, Walt’s older-by-seven-years brother was at Walt’s deathbed.

What Roy witnessed compelled him to make his brother’s dream a reality.

Walt used the square ceiling tiles in his hospital room as a Walt Disney World map.

Walt pointed at individual tiles and said, ”In that square mile we’re gonna do this. In this square mile we’re gonna do that.”

Roy was profoundly impacted by Walt’s final words.

Thank you for being here

Orlando Nature preserve
Walked here this morning. Never gets old.

Thank you for being here. For reading every day.

If you die having five close friends all or most of your life, they will say you were a blessed human being.

If you are one of the many who come and go, my wish is you get more than you expected.

.think .differently

About everything.

Balance is not a myth.

Everything matters.

Nothing is optional.

Personal vibrancy is possible.

Follow my trail until you love to hike to impossible places.

Then, learn to hike on your own, on trails that will love you back, thin places and all.

Spring Grove homes

small town row homes
Main Street, across from the tiny Catholic Church and the tiny Ford Car & Truck Dealership. This is where my Grandparents lived their lives. Their home was the one with the double step protruding onto the sidewalk (middle of photo).

Never dreamed of a life in Spring Grove, so there was never, “Where would i like to settle down and live?”

Literally, no idea where i would have lived or what i would have lived in.

Fall 1977 went to West Chester State College 80-miles east, near Philadelphia. From that point on, spent the first two college summers living at home because of the great paying summer job at ‘The Mill’.

1979 was the last year i lived in Pennsylvania. So at 21, i was exploring the Country as a free spirit.

6 Prioritized Personal Values

father and son next to Disney Institute van
He’s a college upper classperson now. He knows the Disney Way better than anyone else his age. Better than most at any age.

Shared these six in descending order. Started and stayed with Honesty from the time he could talk to about 4 or 5. Note: This is the prioritized order.

  1. Honesty
  2. Behave admirably
  3. Personal responsibility
  4. Self-control
  5. Initiative
  6. Fun

Behave admirably, personal responsibility and self-control were rolled out when he started doing sleepovers.

Initiative rolled out in middle school.

Fun got introduced as a High School upper classperson.
