Organized to serve both

Living near Disney
Yesterday’s view while trimming a few trees.

Thanksgiving began with us serving others and ended with us serving each other. Cheryl and i did stuff around the house that we enjoy, but rarely seem to have time to enjoy. And by enjoy, i mean to do these things at an un-rushed pace – at a rhythm of life pace, not some “i need to check this off my list so i can move to the next thing” pace.

The magic of organized habits

Disney Management Consultants
When Epcot Center open October 1, 1982, this was the only place you could find Mickey Mouse inside the Park. Photo taken yesterday.

Disney Customer Service Keynote Speaker
Yesterday we had lunch here. Today is Thanksgiving 2015.

The magic of organized habits. Our brain is super powerful and is programmed by the thoughts that fill our brain.

Thinking nothing but good and decent thoughts is transformational.

Thinking predominantly about fear, failure, low self-esteem, problems, unfairness, insecurities, excuses, regret – all these things are transformational too.

Pick one.

Stick with it for a lifetime and reap what you’ve sown.

It really isn’t any more complicated than that.

Wishing you the best.

Making something simple is hard

Disney management consultant workbook
Last night the final, final review. It’s off to the printer this morning.

It’s not the Magic that makes it work at Disney, it’s the hard work that makes it Magic.

The effort involved in creating a different type of workbook for a two-day conference was much greater than i anticipated. Making something simple is hard.

April Fool’s Day 2016 is 29 days away

disney leadership keynote speaker
The paradox of leaders empowering their staff. Keynote slides from my very first speech post Disney.

April Fool’s Day 2016 is 29 days away. Highly unlikely this blogging streak is secretly incredible. No one cares. So in the scheme of the Universe it is absolutely a secret.

Dear Son, the trail i’m leaving may be something you discover one day, and for years to come you may lean on it for understanding, perspective, hope, and motivation.

There is also the distinct possibility, you never care about any of this. It’s a body of work that has accumulated one single, solitary day at a time. It may become overwhelming for you.

First day of Thanksgiving 2015 School Break

Blurry photo
This recent, blurry photo is a good metaphor for this post. Time flies and we look back in a blur.

First day of Thanksgiving 2015 School Break. The high school freshman will learn to manage his free time because he has a week of it, yet he has a fair amount of homework.

The small business entrepreneur must also learn to manage time. The temptation to work all day, everyday is strong because what he does never feels like work.

Both the teen and the dad will only get a few of these type of weeks – “no official work required” – abundant time together, lots of options for things to do.
