Sixteen Candles?

Life, Lean Into It
Life, Lean Into It

No, not the movie Sixteen Candles.

Sixteen months.

Today marks the start of the 16th month of writing five daily blogs. Each one differently themed from the other.

July 1, 2010 – what does it mean to you?

When you look in the mirror each morning, what are you doing to keep up with the daily demands life places on you?

Lean into it!

The First Day Of Summer Vacation

So Much Beer, So Little Time
So Much Beer, So Little Time

The first day of my summer vacation, I went downtown, to look for a job.

The second day of my summer vacation, I went downtown, to look for a job.

This classic piece from Cheech & Chong’s 1972 Big Bambu popped into my mind a week or so ago, and I posted it on Facebook.

Some friends wondered why I was looking for a job, because I’ve been with the same world-class organization for 27 years.

It got me wondering if you are looking for a job, even if you already have one you love?

While I was simply playing around, truth is – while you already have a job is exactly the best time to be looking for your next one.

Time For TV Access?
Time For TV Access?

Being on vacation can offer opportunities to do things we don’t normally do.

For me, watching television is not a priority, nor is it something I need to relax or enjoy.

Don’t get me wrong, television does both. And I’ve done more of it in the past week than normal, thanks to a two-week vacation.

It’s amazing what a sporting event can do to build solidarity and inspire passion.

Why sports?

What Really Matters?

OK, so I’m on vacation, dividing time between the annual writer’s retreat and home.

What does it mean when we say, “I’m on vacation“?

Yes, some might say, “You need to relax more”.

Not gonna disagree.

I might come back with a, “You need to exercise more”.

Or, “You need to think about your financial future more”.

Or even, “You need to be crystal clear with your spiritual self-confidence”.

When’s your funeral?

When the big bad wolf comes knocking on your door?

Hope your “house” is made of brick.

I Finally Figured It Out

Impossible Is Nothing
Impossible Is Nothing

Talking about what we’re gonna do is far more wide-spread than actually doing what we say we’re gonna do.

Right?

We see it and hear it everyday.

I finally figured out why.

Because talking about it is sooo much easier than actually doing it.
