How do i test the hypothesis?

Randomly found this 2017 photo of me blogging at Granite Park Chalet.

Being happy with what you have is a great place to be in life.

Pursuing what you want is the American Dream.

Can being happy with what you have prevent you from pursuing what you want?

For example…

i’m happy with spending two hours daily writing five daily, differently-themed blog posts.

As the years continue to pass, especially these years in my 60’s, the thought of having two hours of discretionary time — every day — invested in something different might be a wonderful, and healthy, adventure.

The only way to know is to experiment with the idea.

How do i test the hypothesis?

Does it even matter?

What if i’m wrong?

What if i’m right?

What if i wait too long to try?

What if i start now?

Bonus thoughts:

Never let your memories be bigger than your dreams.

How much is enough?

Be content with what you have and be at peace with who you are.

Luck favors the bold. Luck favors the prepared.

Once you’re a parent

Continental Divide from a seldom-visited hiker spot. This spot is also one of my most frequently visited, favorite spots. You can easily spot Bishops Cap from about a third of the way across the left horizon.

Is parenting an entitlement? For most, yes. For some, nope.

We’re here to teach for our kids.

To teach our son, i use the same three tools i use in my professional teaching career.

Note: Not everything your child needs to learn is going to be something you can teach them. However, you can teach them how to teach themselves. Teach them how to learn, how to be creative, how to take risks, and how to persevere.

Who will tell you?

Through six decades, i have found prioritized priorities makes everything better than unprioritized priorities.

dad

Who will tell you your priorities?

Who should tell you your priorities?

Are your priorities prioritized?

Should your priorities be prioritized?

What happens in life when they are?

What happens in life when they aren’t?

Pro-tip: Compounding, the magic of doubling, is at work whether you are or aren’t focused on common sense.

Insight: Create a lifelong habit of over-focusing on the same things you used to under-focus on or ignore.

Let your vibe and your style soar

Your life is your canvas. Have fun, .think .differently, and lean into discomfort.

Let your vibe and your style soar. Why the heck wouldn’t you?

Life is not a dress rehearsal. Live like you mean it.

Note: The photo above is an accident. Probably a pocket pic.

Explain succinctly

3-second video: Almost home. Little did anyone know that after landing, we’d wait an additional 40 minutes for an open gate to park the plane.

i was a high achiever long before Disney. It’s a blessing and a curse.

  1. What’s frustrated you most about onboarding?
  2. What coaching can you share for how others can best earn your respect and trust.
  3. What makes work fun for you?
  4. What makes working with you fun?
  5. What is important for me to know about you that i haven’t asked?
  6. Bonus: What do you believe is the meaning of life?
  7. Bonus: What’s your superpower?
  8. Bonus: What’s your achilles heel?
  9. Bonus: What’s your favorite place on Earth?

Note: This post’s title (Explain succinctly) is inspired by today’s one-week post cataract surgery followup exam. Grateful Dr Callaway is blessing me with a return to ‘50% of previous efforts’ for pre-cataract surgery physical routines. But it took a few minutes to get to the ‘Bottomline’ restriction.

In hindsight, a one sentence hypothesis (with any medical provider) would be a potential breakthrough to get to the answer efficiently.

Maybe tomorrow’s posts can unpack that and even craft the hypothesis.
