Why We Get Old

The daily grind. It either wears you down or polishes you up.

It’s You Tube Sunday, and here’s my 12-second clip from Joshua Tree National Park – “Why we get old”.

Listen carefully for the fundamental reason.

It’s totally within your control.

The Jerk Who Changed The World

You Think His Life Is Easy?
You Think His Life Is Easy?

The Jerk Who Changed The World.

Catchy.

People often ask me, “How do you do it all?”

The same way a single Mother of four children does.

The same way someone battling cancer does.

The same way a person with no limbs does.

The same way someone struggling with depression does.

The same way a Youth Minister builds a new Church.

I do it by doing.

There is no other way.

The secret though, is to have a reason “why”.

But you already knew that.

You Have Only Two Choices

Make It A Big One
Make It A Big One

Seize the day.

Don’t seize the day.

You know, everyone has a tough life.

Television, movies and other media often trick us into thinking differently.

Get a grip on the day-to-day administrative chores you have, or life will bury you.

That’s what I tell myself every single day.

As soon as I feel I’m caught up, another pile of “to-do’s” arrives, almost laughing in my face.

Here’s The Challenge With

How Do You Get Your Foot In The Door?
How Do You Get Your Foot In The Door?

The challenge with resumes is two fold:

  1. They’re inflated
  2. They sound the same

This was my point with the post about LinkedIn profiles the other day.

Of course, everyone looking for a job is going to say, “I’m very smart. I’m really bright. I’m so smart.”

I mean, seriously, what else are they going to say?

They All Start To Look The Same
They All Start To Look The Same

So if there’s a sea of silver and white (smart) fish, how do you become the rainbow (desirable) fish? The one that people go, “Did you see that fish?”

If I were you, I’d go change your profile right now. Or else you can just keep swimming, just keep swimming….because…

The More You See, The Worse It Gets
The More You See, The Worse It Gets

It’s tempting to think, “Who the heck does he think he is telling me I should change my LinkedIn Profile, or my Resume? My professional resume and LinkedIn profile are fine.”

To which I just smile and so, “Oh, okay, sorry, what was I thinking?”

Seriously, Go Change Your Profile
