Life is not a dress rehearsal, live like you mean it.

It still makes me smile when i think about how the fifth big choice, HQ (Home life), didn’t come about initially. And when it did, the fifth box became the big box housing the other four. it was there all the time.

Almost there

Post it note with stereotypes
Brainstormed some stuff for tomorrow’s Keynote. Yes there’s a typo. Life happens.

Almost there.

Where?

To April Fools Day 2019.

So?

Exactly.

Yet…

Seems like yesterday.

What?

Nearly a decade ago on April 1, 2009, the 100-day, self-imposed writer’s boot camp challenge began.

Why?

i realized i had made a promise to myself to write a book to our kids about the best things i learned in my life.

Not only that realization, but also the realization that 30 years had passed since the “promise” and the first sentence had not yet been written.

Note. The 11th year starts 69 days from today as i write this but only 11 days as today’s five posts go live.

i can’t imagine writing five daily, differently-themed blog posts, on five different websites, for a decade without missing a single day.

How Jack the Bear was named

Jack the Bear
Exact same bear. One is a road warrior and former pet toy.
Jack the Bear
Jack was my Dad’s name.

Our Son did a little Spring cleaning yesterday too.

Jack the Bear came named from the factory.

My Dad and Son never met.

Missing each other by only two months from a planned visit to Pennsylvania.

My Dad became very ill and died 72 hours later.

i made it home to be there, the rest of my Family did not.

In the next few weeks, we received three copies of the exact same teddy bear named Jack.

The one our Yellow Lab befriended was the one i traveled with for a decade.

Chapin found one of the others yesterday – the underside of the bib reveals the Fisher-Price name.

How long can we go without missing a day?

writing clock

Closing in on the nine-year, six-month anniversary for writing five daily, differently-themed blog posts.

The catch?

The fact that it’s been 3, 469 consecutive days (9.5 years) without skipping a day.

An organized setting is a pleasure to the senses.

Repetition is the mother of all learning

Disney Keynote Speaker
Backstage is clean, functional, and efficient.

Disney Keynote Speaker
Clean, functional and efficient, but never in contention for any decorating awards. It was raining most of the day and the towels provided a barrier between my skin and the wet sand.

Repetition is the mother of all learning.

Find a million ways to stay motivated.

The long way is the shortcut.
