What if you only had one more Summer?

This is more beautiful than i imagined.

Final regular season swim meet is tomorrow and i will miss because of business travel. This is worse than i imagined.

It felt good, yet incredibly weird, to so casually tell Howard that next Summer is the last Summer i’m planning to have.

Leadership’s key attribute is the existence of a clear, concise, and compelling vision.

PS. It would be lovely to live vibrantly past 60. Not planning on it. Sure, i’m hopeful, but i refuse to let the notion of more time postpone living like i’m on borrowed time.

Every day is a gift.

i’m fascinated by the home results of setting a 10-year deadline

i’m fascinated by the home results of setting a 10-year deadline.

Reduce, reuse, recycle.

Shed.

Go paperless.

Think, “If i moved into a one-bedroom assisted living apartment, what would i be able to comfortably take with me?”

Still have 21 months to par down.

Getting there.

PS. Did i mention how ecstatic i am that i made this decision because i have a “serious” deadline?

In a perfect world, i’ll live well beyond 60.

Not planning on it though.

Crazy thing is, i haven’t even begun to think about what i’ll do if i make it past 60.

You may call me a dreamer (or crazy, or stupid, or…) but i challenge anyone to dream small and see if you are happy in the end.

How outliers think about time

Last night a box arrived via UPS. The box began its journey in China.

How do outliers think about time?

Different outliers think about it differently, so i’m sharing my perspective.

In late 2008, at 49, i found clarity on the reality no male on my Dad’s side lived past 60.

i made a 10-year plan to do everything i want to do in life before i turn 60.

The talking behind your back when you are an outlier is something you have to accept (and ignore).

“You’re in great shape Jeff. You’ll probably outlive us all.”

Isn’t that a nice thing to say to me?

Except.

How about early onset, rapid-progression Alzheimers?

You can physically be present, and not have a clue who the people are around you. You can even reach a point when you forget how (or why) to swallow food.

A tragic accident. Anything, really, can alter everything.

i am not living with anxiety that the end is near.

i’m living with an excitement and a decision-making karma that is allergic to excuses about waiting for the time to be right to do the stuff we said we want to do.

It’s glorious.

i wish it for you.

Life would be easier if i didn’t write every morning (reprise)

Hurricane Irma
About 24 hours later, it’s history.

American Flag
From 100-mph gusts to nothing in 24 hours. The flag spent the night in our garage.

Life would be easier if i didn’t write every morning (reprise).

The closer i get to the 60th birthday, the more clearly i see the value in a single day.

i can only imagine what i will write if i ever have some weird comprehension of my last days.

Is it something to look forward to or something to fear?

Disney business author and speaker jeff noel
Writing for some is literally an uncontrollable passion.

Who thinks about death every day?

Is it something to look forward to or something to fear?

Both?

Neither?

There is no one way to approach death, but there is one thing for certain, we are in charge of how we view it – does it serves us with joyful gratitude or does it paralyze us with fear and uncertainty?
