Digital agnostic?

going paperless
The generic side of our State Farm insurance policy card for one of our cars.

Digital agnostic?

You know the wallet-sized insurance card you receive that goes in your wallet in case you’re ever in an accident?

The same card you show the police, the tow-truck driver, or anyone else seeking proof of insurance.

And in the same postal envelope, you receive a paper account summary statement.

i take front and back photos of both sides as well as a photo of the paper account summary that comes with the cards.

Then i save them in my Notes app.

Then i shred the documents – paperless.

Scary, right?

Why?

Probably because you aren’t adapting to change.

Momentum is changing because a few key attributes

flight map
Last night. Grateful for a 2-hour non-stop flight home, and for carrying only the small Glacier National Park backpack.

Momentum with my Orlando-based Disney Keynote speaking is changing because a few key attributes, consistently done, are eroding the old beliefs, the old reality, the old expectations.

  • Vision
  • Perseverance
  • Tenacity
  • Enthusiasm
  • Belief
  • Innovation
  • Fun
  • Hope

Simplicity is the ultimate life hack.

Mind blowing technology always starts primitively

Mind blowing technology always starts primitively.

The video above seems primitive now.

None of us are rushing to Amazon to buy it.

Someday, when this technology advances and affordably scales, it will be commonplace, and game-changing.

Insight from the least likely places

Glacier Park Boat Company
Made three separate Boat reservations yesterday. Taking five trips to Glacier National Park this Summer. PS. i have seven Disney Business Books to finish.

We watched this TED video yesterday – actually only the first 120 seconds.

And from those two minutes we deduced that the view from space changes the way you see Earth – and everything.

i said, “The reason i’m so crazy about Glacier is the way it changes the way i see Earth – and everything.”

Later, i told Chapin he’s welcome to play video games at our High School Basketball games.

He won’t be disengaged.

Well, he would be if he was sitting at home playing.

Playing in the gym, he’ll be sitting next to us, and can easily sense anything exciting enough to stop playing and watch.

That’s never an option at home.

The odds of failing vs the odds of succeeding

Gym
It was cold yesterday as i began the 13-mile bike ride to the gym. But it was the heavy rain that caused my retreat and ultimately i drove a car. It would have been much easier to cancel yesterday’s workout. It’s 30 degrees as i type this january 4, 2018.

The odds of people sticking to their New Year resolution is roughly 1 in 10.

The odds of someone starting a business and making it sustainable is less than 1 in 10.

Here’s what this reveals:

  1. Accept that it’s going to be challenging and the odds of failure are astronomical.
  2. The people who “make it” are rewarded, over time, with enough lucky breaks to tip the scale.
  3. Longevity and desire is the recipe for lucky breaks.
  4. Remember that things turn out better or worse than you dream.
  5. When it’s worse, it’s only temporary.
  6. Quitting never leads to lucky breaks.

Sorry, wish it was more complicated than that.

Go.
