GNP Day 7, HQ

9-second video: i tell you where to look, but don’t tell you what to see.

Change what you see and what you see changes.

i remember a time when i swore the only way to effectively work from anywhere, especially Glacier, is with a small MacBook.

Couple years ago i changed what i saw – travel with only an iPhone. Yet continue to excel at ‘work from anywhere’.

Traveling without a MacBook is liberating. Writing using iPhone notes App (without wifi or cell signal), freedom.

Pro-tip: always have a backup. Carry two iPhones.

Note: At home, full-time mantra = always have a backup for your backup.

4-second video: A special moment rarely seen.
Man walking in the mountains by a waterfall
Scott, a GNP Shuttle driver, snapped this pic. Pretty sure he thought he’d get one of me falling off the log and going for a swim.

Keep moving forward.

On it.

Happy present moment.

GNP Day 5, HQ

Mountain goats on a porch
Remembering the Mountain Goat family (of 7) yesterday morning.

Being at Rising Sun makes life easy, except for wifi.

Less than one mile from Wild Goose Island.

Twenty minutes to Logan Pass.

Only 15 minutes to Siyeh Bend.

About 12 minutes to Jackson Glacier overlook and the Gunsight Pass trailhead.

GNP Day 4, HQ

Mountains and a lake
Iconic Wild Goose Island is only one mile from my Motel. This is my first glimpse in 2022.
Small café
Two Dog Flats restaurant. Lucked out with the best table.
Dinner plate with assorted food
The Mountain Man platter is for hungry souls.

Just ok wifi is better than no wifi.

No cell signal, when you expected it to be like last year’s experience. Deep breath. Relax.

Go with the flow.

It is always nice to stay connected with the most important stuff in your life.

Some go away to escape.

That used to be me.

Maybe 15 years ago i started seeing things differently, after transforming life into something i no longer need a vacation from.

Like the shadows earlier, when you change what you see, what you see changes.

Lo and behold, Verizon worked decently after sundown and before sunrise. From the room no less.

Wow! 🏆💯🥳❤️

GNP Day 3, HQ

11-second video: saw the group pass by the room window.
6-second video: six total.
4-second video: make eye contact and smile…

Coffee hour is every night at 8:30pm. Rarely make it, in an effort to sleep longer before an early morning start. This is an exception…

Before taking a ‘front row’ window table, took this photo from the back. For posterity.
14-second video: snippet of Avery debuting her new song, written 24 hours earlier, “Marmot and Spray Foam”.

Avery, Blair, and Carrie are three returning staff. Eight staff total for 2022.

Mattie, from Los Angeles, is the Baker.

Lucas, from the Hudson Valley (NY), is the dish-washer.

Chris, from Indiana (maybe), is ‘Utility’ (she helps everywhere).

Shannon, Tennessee, is the Cook.

Brian, (assuming housekeeping) is super friendly.

Avery is the only full-time server this season.

Blair, Manager, is back for her fifth Summer.

Carrie, (assuming) housekeeping, is back for a second Summer. Met Carrie’s Mom, Ann, last September. Ann filled in for her daughter who had to leave three weeks early.

And, serendipitously, Kevin the proprietor, stayed the same night as me. He’s a rockstar in the historical chalet genre. Kevin is the grandson of the couple who saved Sperry and Granite Park Chalets from disappearing.

Note: video recorded the entire (4:24) performance and airdropped it to Avery. For posterity and because ’artists’ can learn a lot by seeing themselves in action.
