Why we are unhappy TED Talk video.

Managing our big three expectations is the key to managing our happiness and unhappiness.

The video is brilliantly, and in my opinion, irrefutably presented.

Enjoy…

And…

.think .differently

Here’s to our best Summer ever.

T-minus 10 days to the first of several Summer Glacier National Park trips.

The first trip is 11 days, with an 8-day bicycle rental.

Why?

Increases odds of a few sunny, warm days while there.

Having bikes for 8 days ensures a few great riding days, even if it rains for days.

Only recently have i begun sharing this fact about leaving Disney

TED Talk on having it all
Think again? (top left) This screenshot is from the video embedded below. It’s 17-minutes. Only watch it if you yearn for the encouragement to balance your family-work life.

Worth noting that i retired in 2014 and left Disney at age 55 for two reasons:

  1. Didn’t want to be gone (business travel) while our Son was in High School.
  2. Didn’t want to do anything at Disney except Disney Institute.

i knew i would live to regret being away during his High School years.

(A decent compromise is watching the first 2.5 minutes…obviously, the entire 17-minutes is valuable. But who’s got 17 minutes?) Anyway…

He’s an 11th-grader now.

Leaving Disney (after 30 years) in 2014 allowed me to be around for his final year of middle school too.

In the moments when you think the world needs to change

Top Disney Keynote Speakers
The young man hugging me is now much taller than me. And the woman on the left is still the best part of life.

There’ve been inspiring stories coming from the Winter Olympics the past few days.

And yesterday’s tragic story at a South Florida High School.

i just want you to know i’m purposefully not writing about them because i would rather talk about inspiration and challenge from a much smaller corner of the world – my world.

Just one person, striving to live each day like i mean it.

In my own small, inspiring, and sometimes confused and challenged world.

In the moments when you think the world needs to change…

Start with yourself.

You have plenty to work with.

And if you start today, maybe you’ll be finished before you die.

The one key action for getting and staying organized

Grinnell Glacier Overlook
Grinnell Glacier Overlook – a one-mile spur (each way) off Highline Trail, July 30, 2017. We decided to do it – making an 11-hour hike a 13-hour hike.

The one key action for getting and staying organized?

Make decisions.

Constantly.
