My boss, Wayne Gagne, procured the Jungle Cruise hat from Wardrobe. Can’t recall why, but i offered to return it on the drive home. On the ride home, i drive past Magic Kingdom Wardrobe. Wayne does not.Now the hat makes sense with the leopard-print…befitting a Jungle Boat skipper.Stopped taking the elevator years ago. One final walk down the stairwell. While easy and natural to second guess yourself, it did not happen on this final stairwell trip down. Some of Jungle Jeff’s final steps while still “on the clock” during his final, Magical, day.
So what is such a great question and has unlimited applications.
So what? Was it worth it, all those years at Disney and Disney Institute?
H, e, double-hockey-sticks yes!
Knowing six years in advance i’d be retiring at 55 instead of 65 provided enormous opportunity to cherish and savor those final years in a glorious, yet private way.
Remember, i was the only one who knew. Cheryl knew of the intention, but couldn’t fully appreciate the commitment to it. It’s easy to change your mind when no one knows.
The final-five-year countdown was visible only to me.
In hindsight, now seven years into retirement (and running my own business, since 2009) it is unanimously the best work decision ever.
Best decision by an order of magnitude, whatever that means. It sounds big to a guy from the small Paper Mill town of Spring Grove, Pennsylvania.
From pulp dust to Pixie Dust.
Second star to the right. Straight on ’til morning.
To infinity and beyond!

October 31, 2014…as a Full-time Salaried Cast Member, last task i did “On Property” was turn in the Jungle Cruise hat to Magic Kingdom Wardrobe. My boss, Wayne Gagne, signed it out for me and i can’t recall why.
Home stress, free at last.
The paperwork of life causes a boatload of stress on adults.
Agree? Disagree?
Look around at your immediate family, your closest friends, and most trusted work colleagues.
Nirvana?
Issues a mile long?
Probably nirvana, right?
Ok, that was sarcasm.
Prioritize your priorities and watch what happens.
Pro tip: prioritizing your priorities and then living them out daily, for decades – this may take decades.
Stay the course.
Launch, learn, revise.
Repeat.
You can rest from this after you die (as far as anyone can tell).

What’s the benefit to prioritizing your priorities?
Eliminating decision fatigue.
Living in a balanced way – you’ve set the highest bar for mind, body, spirit, work, and home. There’s no weak spot, no leak in your boat.
How does one get to this place?
Pay attention to the few who are living it. Study. Apply. Launch, learn, revise, repeat.
The road to excellence has no finish line.
Be well and remain amazed.

So there, in conclusion, is what writing in the moment looks, sounds, and feels like. It was one continuous train of thought, written spontaneously, authentically, without fear, without conformity, without expectation.
i do not know why i write, i only know that i must write and i cannot help myself.
Note: the number of “i’s” in the previous sentence is roughly the number of “i’s” written in a year. ☺️ 😯 😳
