All it takes is one time consuming detour today

Magic Kingdom main entrance
It was packed for a Monday, January 4th. Leisurely burned nearly two hours for a run before the setback.

All it takes is one time consuming (one to three hour) detour in our day and we quickly feel the stress of having our daily plan come apart. Recovering from these set backs ripples into the next day as well. Heaven forbid we have two days in a row like this.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

No one cares about my daily minutia

Apple Special Event September 2015
As i write this post, the iPhone 6s is being revealed.

Annual palm tree trimming. Trees center left are next.

Some chores require daily attention and we are the only ones who can do them.

Other chores happen weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually.

Some require experts to complete.

Annual tree trimming seems insignificant until you remember that next month is the peak month for Hurricane season (June 1 – Nov 30).

There are some chores we do once in a lifetime, maybe. One of those was yesterday. A phone call (from Epcot) with the guy that produces Lee Cockerell’s podcasts.

Will it lead to me doing podcasts? It’s a pricy proposition. How do you organize yourself to calculate the risk versus reward?

Oh, and one more chore. Bought a new Macbook two days ago. It’s still in the box.

Personal organization feeds on itself

Teamwork allows for a healthy meal at the end of a productive Sunday.

The reward for being decently organized is inherent in the fact that you are decently organized. It’s much easier to do better things, more often, when we spend less time recovering from poor habits.
