Routines will make or break you

speaker hype
Theory? For sure. Reality? You have to decide for yourself.

You’re going to read this and think, duh, this is obvious.

Theory is obvious.

Applying theory successfully is rare.

Besides grit – personally or organizationally – the other critical success factor for world-class results is over-focusing on the best habits.

Habits and culture are synonymous.

Routines will make or break you or an organization.

There’s even a time to change and enhance great habits, and there’s a time to not waiver. Knowing when to hold on and when to let go is an art. The more you practice it, the better you get.

Insight: Do you have a morning routine?

Does it begin the night before with an early bedtime?

Say what you want about being a night owl.

No harm, no foul.

i used to be one, for two decades.

An overwhelming and long-term attribute that successful people swear their success to is having a consistent morning routine.

A routine that includes a focused morning plan.

The early bird gets the worm.

Disney’s secret for success is really this simple

Disney Culture Speaker
Disney’s secret isn’t a secret, it’s common sense business wisdom.

Disney’s secret for success is really this simple. We over-focus on the same things others under-focus on or ignore. We are intentional where others are unintentional.

When does the workday actually begin?

Disney Keynote Speaker
Disney taught me to think this way. Still in early stages of image development – all Adobe Spark watermarks will be removed. i like posting a few to illustrate the early stage of this journey.

When does the workday actually begin?

For many –  including me for most of my life – it begins after arriving at work and having a cup of coffee.

In this scenario, there is no plan, no momentum, and no guiding force for the first couple hours.

But what if the day began the night before so that upon waking, there is a plan, a focus, a driving force and momentum to literally get started – with a plan – before arriving to work?

Disney Institute Facilitiators
One of my final Disney Institute engagements during October 2014 was with Mark Matheis (Disney history expert) and Chevrolet. Photo; Taken while we waited for our class to return from a self-guided business tour of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The past few weeks i’ve been working on 2019 engagements and a couple for this Fall.

This post was inspired by me reflecting on the body of work i did at Disney Institute:

  • spoke to over one-million people
  • engaged with 2,000 different organizations
  • received distinctive Disney recognition
  • quietly pioneered compelling questions
  • tenaciously pursued and exploited undiscovered paradoxes
  • created game-changing, simple, key, repeatable message points

Driven like Walt.

How can you not be driven like Walt and still call yourself a Disney Cast Member.

Do you have a “not-to-do” list?

oral health and heart disease
Daily flossing isn’t something to not do.

Questions i ask myself…

Do you have a “not-to-do” list?

No?

Would it be worth considering?

Oh wait, you don’t have time.

Ok, so there’s your first “not-to-do” item.

Stop using “i don’t have time” as something you lean on.
