Our ability to walk away is greatly reduced.

Not being able to (or refusing to) walk away is a recipe for disappointment.

It will cost too much.

Choices are severely limited or none existent.

We are tempted to use poor judgement to compensate for our emotional sense of urgency.

Long shot: the harder we work, the luckier we get.
