Executive Resource bottomline

Disney speaker Jeff noel's .think .differently slide
My brand is ‘hope’. You cannot hope for better results while thinking and doing what you already know how to do. Better is never guaranteed. Creativity carries no guarantee. You must insist on doing things that may not work. You must hope that they work out as well, or better than, you envisioned.

Executive Resource DNA:

If your goal isn’t impossible, you’re not reaching high enough.

Only you

Bob Iger with Jeff Noel from Disney Institute, circa 2005
When you are part of a company, you follow orders. When you own the company, you call the shots.

It took me nearly six decades to realize that i should only being doing what only i can do.

It’s a common ‘leadership text book’ theory.

Yet until you are in charge of your fate, you’ll never know what it means.

i’m in a place where if i now get asked (by someone who’s paying me) to do something someone else can do, i have the rare option to offer them their money back.

Why?

Because i refuse to do something that others can do.

i recently renamed my line of work from Executive Coach to Executive Resource. Why?

Because i bring something to the table no one else brings. Disney experience, Disney wisdom, Disney insight and Disney mastery. This is my super-power. This is what i get paid for.

Note: Undoubtedly, with everything else, there’s someone far more expert than me.

Writing today’s blogs has been therapeutic and cathartic. Today’s blogs have also been strategic. They’ve reframed that i need to move from verbal explanations to a one-page (if possible) written summary. Why? To scale the onslaught of requests, from previous clients, for this type of work (resource).

Business branding priorities

Executive Coach or Executive Resource?

Organizational Vibrancy Coach or Organizational Vibrancy Resource?

What’s the difference? Why change descriptions?

The difference suddenly seems profound.

Executive Coach or Executive Resource?

A coach implies the coach will lead, and others will follow.

An executive resource implies the person has invaluable wisdom, experience, insight – and supports the leader.

Same thing for the difference between Organizational Vibrancy Coach and Organizational Vibrancy Resource.

A coach leads. A resource supports another leader.

Here’s the needed clarity: Do i want people expecting me to lead, so they can follow? Or do i want people expecting me be an insanely valuable resource to help them be excellent leaders, for their followers.

Rewrite this…

In the past 72 hours i’ve completed a lot of “paperwork”. Most of it i call high-value completion. Some call it ‘big-ticket’ items. Both are accurate.

Checked in from my car in the Quest parking lot. There for the annual blood draw. Walking into the lobby there was a line across the lobby, to the entrance door. Six people waiting to check in on the lobby device. Was in the process of opening my phone as i took a seat (obviously bypassing the lobby checkin) and i heard, “Jeffrey”. Shot up like a rocket and politely cut through the line blocking me.

Tomorrow, Sunday, is a good day to see this movie. Didn’t grow up a Dylan fan. At all. But became one once i started listening regularly a few years ago during Glacier Summers. Want to see how big a rebel he was. i like good and decent rebels. i strive to learn as much as possible from them.

While you active work on “Your Life’s” in-box, you occasionally get brief moments of glorious feedback. Feedback that validates your desire (and belief) that what you do matters. Pearl is the mom of one of our Son’s key friends. Drew was here New Year’s Day (and night) with Renato and Skylar.

Renato, Skylar, Chapin, and Drew (not in this photo) have been friends since ninth-grade Latin class nearly a decade ago. This was a 13-mile hike and the reason Cheryl took a break (and isn’t in this pic). Photo, August 2024, days before their epic train trip to Seattle.

19-second video: Desk draw is spartan. Spartan means: Sparta had the warriors — the guys who went to bed early and drilled all day. They lived in bare rooms and didn’t get sick days or time off. A spartan life is a life of discipline and self-denial. Some people like it like that.

Driven to make the paperwork of life…

Done from anywhere, anytime.
