Bob Iger took over for Michael Eisner in 2005, when Michael retired after serving as our CEO for 21 years. Bob was to retire in 2015 when his 10-year contract concluded. He’s (still) our CEO through July 2019.

 

We employ the cocktail-size weenie trick.

Walt could get his dog to do just about any trick – including tricks it didn’t want to do – for one of those small cocktail sized hot dogs that come in a can.

We affectionally call Cinderella Castle a weenie.

Our Guests don’t particularly want to keep moving down Main Street USA, but we really need to keep the Guest flow moving.

Main Street USA is a huge bottleneck.

A classic traffic jam creator.

But you’ll literally never experience Cast Members shouting and directing our Guests to “keep it moving folks”.

Why?

How?

The Castle acts like a weenie to get our Guests to do something they don’t want to do – keep moving.

Cinderella Castle beckons our Guests to come closer – there’s more Magic up ahead.

Wait, there’s more waiting

Wait, there’s more waiting.

After disembarking from the Disney Monorail or Ferry Boat, you wait one last time to show your ticket and pass through the turnstiles.

And it was in that Disney Transportation ride via monorail or boat that we give you some space.

Space to distance yourself from all the waiting (for every step in arrival) and paying (parking and tickets).

Space to relax and begin shedding thoughts of the real world with thoughts of Magic and Fantasy.

He saw to it that Walt’s greatest dream was fulfilled

The vision has come to life.

 

Well, we all know what Roy did.

He came out of retirement, at 71, and saw to it that Walt’s great dream came true.

Two months after his dedication speech at Walt Disney World’s Town Square, Roy passed away.

Walt Disney remembered by his daughter, Diane.

Walt created his little oasis (HQ) apartment at Disneyland in an effort to create better life-balance.

He had a lot on his plate.

At the end of the day, he was a husband, dad, and entrepreneur.

Totally get it.

Glacier National Park is my “apartment above the firehouse”.

One of the first meeting places with a business partner. We were both dreamers. Our partnership didn’t materialize. Our friendship remains solid.

We tried.

Life’s a journey.

We both learned and profited from trying.

Status quo or transformation?

Safe or Risky?

Without the paradox, learning, and growth is mediocre at best.
