Rules exist to solve recurring, common issues

Sheraton Hotel quiet hours poster
This is a common courtesy.

Rules exist to set expectations for living within a fair and equitable community.

Your home – which sometimes is a hotel room – is your sanctuary. It is literally the only place that makes sense for you to do as you please.

The caveat, your behavior should never interfere with your neighbors sanctuary.

Want to make late night hotel noise? Stay in the bar or the banquet room until it’s out of your system.

Drunkenness is rude when you inflict it on sober people.

Ps. As an alcoholic from 1973 to 2001, i can intelligently and expertly comment on this.

Pss. Technically still an alcoholic, now going on 48 years. But on December 31, 2001, i stopped ingesting alcohol.

First missed celebration since 1982

When i started on January 25, 1982, we were still conducting WDW’s Tencennial Celebration. Have physically been here for every five-year anniversary since (15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45).

Missing the 50th seemed impossible to accept. Seemed like something i shouldn’t miss.

Wisdom teaches you life goes on after you leave. Some of the streaks and traditions in your life either have a shelf life or it’s something that can actually be modified to suit your place in life.

That said, looking forward to celebrating 50 years for the next 15-18 months.

One day and then

One full day, today, and then off to Maryland for Parents Weekend.

Having prioritized priorities and simple, scalable structure and processes at home makes this transition fun and exciting.

Happy present moment.

Annoyingly organized

10-second video: The plan from Logan Pass was to beeline it to West Glacier. Never happened. The Grizzly sighting less than a minute after leaving the Pass parking lot changed everything.

Annoying confident are the folks who for a variety of reasons, exude a vibe, a karma, even an expectation that good things are going to consistently happen.

These same people have assuredly placed their hands on the firey-hot gates of hell.

They have learned too much about hell to ever get close again.

In fact, they are warriors against negativity, impatience, and anger.

They walk confidently.

In an ideal world, they also walk humbly.

Observing the humble ones, they just look annoyingly confident.

Half of my home town

Half of my hometown thinks one way. The other half thinks the opposite.

It’s the same in your hometown.

The world is full of opposites.

Contrast.

Oxygen. Carbon dioxide.

Fire. Water.

Flood. Drought.

Zealots. Conformists.

Gratitude. Bitterness.
