26-second video: Last thing i thought would happen today is a fire at the Lodge.
You think a day cannot get better and then it does.
The fire.
Bill.
Somewhere, over the rainbow…

Two Yutes having fun. Six miles roundtrip. Perfect.
Eight staffers. Last night of the season. They are anxious and excited to get down the mountain.
Smokiest day of the Summer.
7-second video: Anne plays violin professionally. She’s logged 15+ years in Glacier. Most of them two decades ago.6-second video: Season’s final coffee hour. The staff can’t wait to leave. Yet they know they‘ll miss their mountain home in indescribable ways.
Cheryl arrived a week ago. Each day is supremely ‘perfect’. i expected this. To see it easily unfold each day is a blessing.

Convo with Mattie happened here a few minutes ago. Why? Because we weren’t in a hurry.
7-second video: Walking to room after dinner. One minute before talking with Mattie. Why notice and take a ground-view video of a caterpillar? Because i wasn’t in a hurry.
The family we dined with were impressed with the dining experience. From the bread, salad, baked chicken and toppings, to dessert, they couldn’t believe this meal is possible so deep in and high up.
As Cheryl and i leisurely walked from the dining hall, we randomly encountered Mattie, the Chalet baker.
From two previous visits in July, i know Mattie is the baker.
me: Our table was complementing you on your bread and cake.
me: Do you have a degree?
Mattie: No, it’s just a passion.
me thinking to myself: Human wisdom/insights consistently float in front of us, if only we aren’t in a hurry, and get to notice.
