Our amazingly responsive and professional Electrician is in our Son’s room as I write this, installing a new ceiling fan. He was here a month ago for some other work and I asked him a question that he just told me can’t stop thinking about.

When’s your funeral?

He said it’s transformed his thinking about life. He has three young children and his own business.

Awakening December 31, 2001, the reality of what was about to happen was staggering (two previous, major attempts had failed).

That day was the first day of the rest of this life.

The first day as a person who no longer drinks alcohol. Period.

If ya do the math, the first day started on the hardest day – the world’s biggest party night – not the day after on January one.

Insane.

Hey, have a blast tonight.

And tomorrow, think about kickin’ somebody’s behind.

This morning would have been perfect for a big fat lie

Many of us weigh ourselves each morning, or at least semi-frequently. It’s prudent. It can also provide some guidance (even reward) on how we should manage our meal choices for the day.

Tipped the scale at a weight higher than I can remember in the past ten years.

This morning would have been perfect for a big fat lie.
