Life is not a dress rehearsal

Donkeys near Disney University
What?

Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Live like you mean it.

Death will be here before you are ready.

So, in my humble opinion, the time to get ready is when you don’t need to.

Say, now.

We had a great hour-long talk

text message
Two cousins. One in Orlando, one near San Francisco.

Worst fires in recorded California history.

Cousin Randy is 50 miles away.

Randy and i are same age cousins.

He almost died a couple years ago from drugs and alcohol.

His life was saved (and he’ll be the first to share his miraculous story) when he was sponsored at a rehab center in California.

We grew up in Pennsylvania, and he moved from there to Cali to get help.

All his possessions fit into an 11′ x 8′ bedroom.

As if the wildfires aren’t humbling enough.

Jerry McGuire, show me the value

Disney Institute classroom flipcharts
Simple and the big picture are synonymous.

Creating value is an interesting challenge for me and my business at this stage (three years on my own).

In a couple weeks i will order the iPhone X.

i will order it no matter the price.

Why?

Because the value i perceive is worth whatever it costs, and, no matter the cost.

Now (and for a long time), i’m noodling creative solutions to remove price sensitivity.

How outliers think about time

Last night a box arrived via UPS. The box began its journey in China.

How do outliers think about time?

Different outliers think about it differently, so i’m sharing my perspective.

In late 2008, at 49, i found clarity on the reality no male on my Dad’s side lived past 60.

i made a 10-year plan to do everything i want to do in life before i turn 60.

The talking behind your back when you are an outlier is something you have to accept (and ignore).

“You’re in great shape Jeff. You’ll probably outlive us all.”

Isn’t that a nice thing to say to me?

Except.

How about early onset, rapid-progression Alzheimers?

You can physically be present, and not have a clue who the people are around you. You can even reach a point when you forget how (or why) to swallow food.

A tragic accident. Anything, really, can alter everything.

i am not living with anxiety that the end is near.

i’m living with an excitement and a decision-making karma that is allergic to excuses about waiting for the time to be right to do the stuff we said we want to do.

It’s glorious.

i wish it for you.

Personal coaching for do-it-yourselfers

Long lines at Post Office
Longest lines i’ve seen at the Post Office in a year. Glad i wasn’t desperate yesterday. Able to simply walk away.

It’s surreal this morning, counting only 18 days until the beginning of the 9th year of five-a-day-blogging.

Daily writing is like having a tutor.

Personal coaching for do-it-yourselfers.

Doubtful i’ll ever be able to walk away from (minimum) two hours of daily writing.
