The highlight of the day yesterday, by far, was my wife coming into the office at 5:15AM and saying she was heading down(stairs).

“Heading down” is code for let’s go do our daily run.

Yes, 5:15AM, on a Monday, in the cold (for us) and dark.

And by the way, 5:15AM, Monday through Friday is our routine, since August 2018.

Beginning at 5:00AM when i awoke yesterday, i was so wrapped up in catching up after being in South America last week that i had actually forgotten about the morning run.

Being on time is a challenge for everyone

behaviors trump intentions
Behaviors trump intentions. You can (and should) organize your mantras.

Being on time is a challenge for everyone.

It’s not impossible to be on time.

But you do have to change the way you live your life.

Some starters:

  • Leave early.
  • Plan travel time based on the speed limit then add another 10 minutes.
  • Make 10 minutes early as “on time”.
  • Make “on time” as late.
  • And make “late” unacceptable.

Clear expectations and predictable accountability always yield much better results than unclear expectations and little to no accountability.

Sometimes, the obvious is too unpleasant to think about and too challenging to put into habitual practice.

Who doesn’t love Walt Disney?

Disney Keynote Speakers
i love this man. And there are millions of others around the globe who feel the same.

Walt was one of the original disruptors.

He did many things no one had ever done before.

  • First cartoon with synchronized sound – Steamboat Wille 1928
  • First cartoon in color – Flowers and Trees in 1932
  • First multi-plane camera 1932 (Old Mill, 1937 Academy Award)
  • First full-length animated feature movie – Snow White 1937
  • First Themed Park – Disneyland 1955
  • First Themed vacation destination – Walt Disney World 1971
  • New CEO Michael Eisner 1984
  • New CEO Bob Iger 2005

The milestones are vast in number. These are among the most significant in my experience inside Disney from 1982-2014.

PS. i’m still an insider because i still have a Cast Member ID and we live less than a mile from Walt Disney World.

“Congrats and thank you”, says your future self in 10 years

Kane Brown
Last night (7:22pm), stumbled upon this.

A decade from now, your future self is going to thank you for something you did this month.

You did something new.

Something different.

Something better.

And it may even have been the elimination of a tendency or habit you had. Stopping something is also new. Also a seed.

Either way…

You planted the seed of a new habit.

“Congrats and thank you”, says your future self in 10 years.
