The paradox of fear and excitement

Cinderella Castle art
Two days ago at Epcot’s Art of Disney Store. Chances are my new logo may have a castle turret in it.

The paradox of fear and excitement.

The annual salary for a contracted project manager is astonishing, and leaves me afraid of not being able to afford it.

Conversely…

The annual contracted salary is exciting because it represents unlimited opportunity to grow my business’s marketing in ways i could never do alone.

It’s been an interesting phenomenon to enjoy a 100% referral and returning client base.

The time to worry about the future is when you don’t need to. That would be now.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Making decisions about things i never saw coming

Passport info
New Passport arrived yesterday, in half the time they promised.

Making decisions about things i never saw coming is interesting because i wrestle with accepting my ignorance, and rejoice with my discoveries (and growth).

It’s quite possible this year will see me pay out wages equal to or greater than my entire income last year.

Never saw it coming.

And now?

Now i can’t imagine making a difference without it.

PS. Just sent an email to someone i’m working with stating that it’s absurd to hire an amazing person and then tell them what to do. She is grateful.

Here’s the response from today’s jungle jeff post

Disney Keynote Speaker request
Most communication i receive from unknown people is for advice. Sprinkled in are requests for keynote speaking, like this one yesterday. Feb 2017 in Orlando for 500 people.

Email is such a funny thing because typed words carry no body language nor voice tone. i always bet on honesty and authenticity. When you write from your heart, it’s hard to fail.

Here’s Judson’s reply this morning…

“Hi there Jeff,

Thanks so much for getting back to me and with such great advice. I was able to become close with a few of the managers and many cast members at Cosmic Rays during my time there and will definitely reach out to them to reconnect. I’m only on my second week here at the Disney Store in Times Square but already off to a great start and looking forward to creating some great relationships with my fellow cast members and the leadership team this summer.

After reading your email, I wanted to look for some books about Disney to get into. I started with “Creating Magic” by Lee Cockerell just last night. Please let me know of any others that I should put on my list!

Thanks again, Jeff!”

So i immediately reply back…

“You are on the right track with the right optimism and energy. When you’re finished with Creating Magic, i’ll make another recommendation. And you’re right when you said you got close to some of your leaders and peers. Getting close is different than being cordial, helpful, and respectful to everyone. We should all be focused on being a great resource for everyone, and in the same breath, we also want to find a few people who will tell us the truth so we can grow.
Be well and remain amazed.”

Slow and steady wins the website race

Dormant
Nearly every company is sitting on dormant opportunities that will change everything. Why?

Truth be told, i’ve had websites since 2008 (eight years and counting).

Why no official, corporate looking Disney Speaker website?

Because…

Slow and steady wins the website race.

The reward for progress, even if it’s slow, is progress.

Seems so obvious.

Which begs the question, “Why aren’t more of us moving slower?”

If we were, we might actually create something remarkable.

The new Disney speaker website now has every page formatted as a “landing page”.

This is a major improvement, in my opinion.

Organized to stop and watch on the way to Magic Kingdom meeting

Florida Sand Hill Cranes
The other day leaving our driveway for an errand.

Heading to Magic Kingdom for lunch. Was not in a hurry and had time at the end of our driveway to watch this Family for two minutes. The parents have red heads. The juveniles do not. The one in the middle was applying clay (water puddle at it’s feet) to it’s feathers.

Had i not been organized, i would have been in a rush to make the meeting on time, and there would be no photo of this encounter. In fact, there would have been no encounter.
