Count your blessings

Person sitting in an eye glasses store
Flashback to August 14, 2023. Waiting as a walk-in to see the eye doctor on duty. Blind in the left eye. A few hours away from meeting a Retina Specialist.

Count your blessings.

Sage advice

Sure, count your blessings. Everyone knows this.

The pro-tip is this: Count your blessings, all day, everyday.

Home turbulence

This morning’s quick call to fix the glitch i predicted existed. The glitch revolved around a DNS issue. Bryan fixed it. Thirty minutes later, the migration was complete.

The quality of your life is from the quality of your priorities.

dad

Priorities are multi-layered.

Priorities start at the top-line level with a handful of categories.

Mine are…

Mind.

Body.

Spirit.

Work.

Home

Each of the top-line priorities has a subset of priorities.

Each subset has a subset.

You can drill this down to the most granular level.

Kinda like all the steps it takes for a mountain to become grains of sand.

Migration bullseye

blog post photo
Wrote this post seven months ago at Lane8.org. It published yesterday, while on the two-hour call with GoDaddy. Reminds me of the supreme goal of every customer interaction.

Ask vital questions. What is the supreme goal of every single customer service interaction?

dad

Every employee in every company has the same, singular, supreme goal in every customer interaction.

As a Disney Leader and Disney Institute Business Advisor, for 30 years, and now since 2014 as a solopreneur, my research confirms that most organizations have no idea how to answer this vital question.

Moreover, they have no idea how to embed the question’s answer in their Organizational DNA,

And finally, they have no capability to scale the training and career-long commitment to consistently achieve the goal in every customer interaction.

Insight: They can call me, agree to a paid collaboration, and i can reveal to them our (Disney) five Organizational pillars and corresponding 19 architectural blueprints. They can engage me as long as they want.

Always remember, the long way is the short cut.

Priority migration

The grind of discipline is joyous compared to the grind of regret.

dad

Prioritize intentionality instead of mediocre planning.

Maybe tomorrow i’ll unpack today’s ‘migration’ blog titles.

Maybe not.

Depends how the GoDaddy Hosting Plan migration goes.

Home patience?

dinner table name card
Had the final four nights of the 2023 season. It would have been our (Cheryl and me) third consecutive September closing down Sperry Chalet. Eye surgery required us to cancel. The return will be especially meaningful in 2024.

Be patient. Your over-focused daily habits will grow you positive results at home with your prioritized priorities.

dad

Having prioritized priorities is a perfect example of over-focusing on the things you used to under-focus on or ignore.
