‘Twas the night before, at HQ

16-second video: Testing 1,2,3…
March 2020. Explaining some things, father to teenage son, and the notion of managing your life with a compass versus a clock. One is about purpose. One is about productivity.

‘Twas the night before, at HQ…GNP…

To me, Apple Watch isn’t wearing a watch.

Apple Watch is wearing a small computer/phone on your wrist.

My blindspot finally revealed

A riff about the two sentences that changed my Disney trajectory.

Piegan’s cairn

18-second 2020 video: Piegan’s cairn…a delightful look into the Many Glacier valley.
Disney Baby Yoda toy on mountain top
Mt Siyeh. And Grogu.

Want to mention the Piegan summit cost me a pair of eye-glasses.

Placed them in my vest pocket while shooting a video. Forgot about it and was laying on my belly to get a Disney character (Grogu) photo and crushed the glasses.

From that moment on, always carry spare eye-glasses.

Note: The blessing is being able to see distance. The other blessing is i didn’t need to read a map or compass to descend.

Piegan Glacier from above

15-second 2020 video: To be in this place under the circumstances completely blew my mind.

To find courage, time, and tenacity, to pursue personal leadership vibrancy can seem elusive. May serendipity and karma bless you with a lucky break or two this season.

Regarding the 15-second video: To be in this place under the circumstances completely blew my mind.

The OMG in this video is because summiting Piegan Mountain was not in the plan. Was actually doing reconnaissance for Pollock Mountain for a future solo attempt. It was so cold and windy, i almost descended after a few minutes at the saddle. The saddle between Pollock and Piegan is an unforgiving wind tunnel.

In the moment, decided to start walking toward Piegan to see what would happen. Maybe the wind would die down. Maybe if i kept moving i could stay warm. One thing led to another. Like a Siren’s Song…the nearly invisible Goat trail beckoned. Serendipity and karma paid me a solid.

Trail etiquette

Gunsight Mountain, left. Edwards Mountain, right.

Trail etiquette:

  • Pack it in, pack it out
  • Always hydrate (drink a lot) before hitting trail
  • Carry more water than you think you’ll need
  • Ascending hikers have right of way
  • Step aside if a faster hiker(s) catches us
  • On flat trail with hikers approaching from the opposite direction, it’s always nice to be the first to step aside
  • Never approach wildlife
  • Please speak up if you want to stop for a moment (for any reason…water, photo, snack, delayer, add a layer, ask a question about something you see, etc)
