Clear accountability is part of being organized

Clear accountability is part of being organized.

The client check arrived two days past the promised date. No big deal.

The check was not the agreed upon amount.

Big deal.

Not financially.

It’s an accountability big deal.

Do what you say you are going to do.

Now, i have to make a “big deal” over this.

Why?

Because accountability has to be clear and it has to be a habit.

It also has to be something worth defending.

Perhaps only crazy people get this level of fanaticism.

As a leader, what we accept by default becomes the standard.

And so it goes.

May i never tire from being an example at staying decently organized.

Like i always say, “Our son will either think of me as an example or a warning.”

The choice is obvious.

i began transforming myself 12 years ago when he was Pre-K (2004).

 

i know very few people who:

1. drive the speed limit
2. leave early enough to not have to rush to make it somewhere on time
3. never tailgate
4. have no need to speed up when the light turns yellow

None of those described me until i became a parent (2000) and started thinking about teaching safe driving habits when our child was four (2004). You know, get in a good dozen years or so before they get their learner’s permit.

Disney’s secret to competitive immunity is being way more intentional with the same things others don’t pay much attention to or ignore completely.
