This feeds on itself

iPhone weather app screen shot
Some people still wait for the TV weather person for the forecast. Others find out in seconds.

Most people have no idea how much their disorganization is slowly destroying their spirit.

Being unorganized feeds on itself.

It can never get better, and in fact can only get worse, if we never get better.

The fear of mattering

Florida living weekend landscape chores
Yesterday morning, sitting on the front porch. Just above my toes, a 14-year old.

The fear of mattering is powerful enough to scare us into playing it safe.

We lean on our fairly disorganized life to create the perfect alibi for why we never come alive.

We take this to our grave.

i’ve organized every day (for 6+ years) to begin with two hours of thinking, reading, praying, and writing – for anyone with the guts to listen.

So it’s like this…

Fed Ex delivery location
Fed Ex left the package on the chair rather the nearby covered front porch.

Fed Ex delivery location
Package on the right chair arm, and the covered front porch is close.

HP Instant Ink package
HP Instant Ink package with for ink cartridges.

So it’s like this…

What if…

Fed Ex delivers a package in a cardboard box and leaves it in the driveway. No big deal right?

What if it rains, what if the residents are away for a few days? What if…

What if the driver would have walked a few more feet and placed it by the front door, under the covered porch?

In an earlier post today about everything happens for a reason the lesson is clear:

This is a first world problem. Maybe the driver is going through some sort of personal hell. If it would have been damaged or stolen, it is replaceable. Let go of how it was handled compared to how you thought it should have gone down.

i learned to grow my patience with imperfection.

Because it’s what i hope other’s will do with my imperfections.

Thought giving up coffee and diet coke would be impossible

Funny coffee sign
Cracker Barrel for breakfast before the Sunday Tournament. Photo taken in their gift shop.

Thought giving up coffee and diet coke would be impossible. Seriously.

The catalyst was a holiday trip to visit Family. In a strange development, noticed widespread dark stains on my teeth. From coffee?

Quit drinking coffee and diet coke when we returned to Orlando. That was on January 5, 90 days ago.

The sign above:

No coffee, No workee.

We believe what we want to believe.

  • “I can’t live without coffee”.
  • “I can live without coffee”.

We live a lifetime selling ourselves short. Our ability to transform is possible.

It’s the focus and discipline that seems impossible.
