Three-week countdown, home…

At home, it’s literally impossible to comprehend the daily blogging effort.

Daily blogging began as a 100-day, self-imposed writer’s bootcamp.

Challenged myself to write five daily, differently-themed blogs on five different websites.

The goal was simply to gain writing practice before attempting to write my first book.

You wouldn’t commit to running a half marathon and just showing up on race day. No, you would run many miles, for many days and months before race day.

Same concept for the 100-day blogging challenge. Critical to know that prior to April Fools’ Day 2009, my consecutive-day total for publishing five daily blogs was two.

Two consecutive days. Not four. Not even three. Two.

Definitely impossible.

That’s why i intentionally chose April Fools’ Day.

i’d have to be a fool to think i could write 500 blog posts in 100 days.

To say our home life was ‘busy’ is freakishly understated.

Like many of our Disney colleagues, we all were simply trying to live the American dream.

Also like many of our Disney colleagues, we were insanely ambitious and ‘wanted it all’.

So i asked myself, “Why not pile on top of every ‘busy thing’ in your life a 100-day, write-and-publish five daily, differently-themed blog posts?”

Planned freedom, home

At home.

The planned freedom you surround yourself with.

How much agency do you have?

How much agency does your family have?

How much freedom to think, move, feel, contribute, and prioritize?

Satisfied?

Teach hope, home

mountains and lake
Same place, slightly different look. This look is always on a spectrum: from modestly-dramatic to super-dramatic.

Teach hope at home…

Help others hope that they can discern their priorities.

Note: Priorities are a nebulous, under-rated, under-focused on, and remarkably neglected concept.

Show with your life’s example that getting this right leads to personal vibrancy.

Help others take one more defining step…

Prioritize the priorities.

Harvest hope, home

old motel room
Spent 50 days and nights here in 2020. Now it’s Pursuit employee housing. Formerly known as West Glacier Motel. During Covid-19 (2020), Glacier’s entire 500,000-acre East side was closed to visitors.

Hope spawned from the goal (hope) of taking our son, 12, to Glacier for the first time in 2012.

Why?

Imprint something opposite from ‘all he knows…’.

He grew up every summer spending a week on Sanibel Island. Even before he turned one year old.

Palm trees and sunshine.

Flat.

Hot.

Sea-level.

The first year carried the hope he’d want to return a second time.

Why?

Simply to experience the paradox of Florida beaches…

Mountains.
