You don’t have to

You don’t have to change the world. But it might be fun trying.

Writing a book, and especially publishing a book, may be some of the greatest fun in my life.

The 100-day blogging challenge that began April Fools’ Day 2009, created a daily writing habit that continues to this day.

One-hundred days, which was a foolish (impossible) goal, has lasted over 15 years (and growing).

i didn’t have to keep writing.

In fact, i never intended to keep writing.

Yet here we are.

It’s been a remarkably fun ride.

Disney Keynote Speaker, Jeff Noel when he was a young boy
Enthusiasm is a superpower. This is me at (cousin) Redwood’s house. Circa mid to late 60’s.

Happy present moment.

Enjoy your journey through life.

Never lose your childhood enthusiasm to have fun and explore what’s possible.

My goal in the photo was is to see how many pogo-stick bounces i could do in a row.

Don’t recall the actual record, but i distinctly remember thinking 1,000 would be epic.

Ps. Never owned a pogo stick, so practicing was never in the equation.

The mystery BFOs

Lakeside mountain motor inn room view
A Motel room with a view like this is possible, if you catch a lucky break and find it.

Strive continuously to solve your personal mysteries. Then continuously enjoy the fruits of your labors.

dad

The mystery of BFOs is stunning.

A BFO is a blinding flash of the obvious.

A few ‘stunning’ examples:

Regular exercise and decent nutrition are light-years better than the opposite.

Reading, studying, observing, and teaching (to name a few) are better than not doing them.

Consistently, for a decade or so, saving a little money and investing in one or two blue chip stocks when you are young is remarkably better than not doing it.

Count your blessings

Person sitting in an eye glasses store
Flashback to August 14, 2023. Waiting as a walk-in to see the eye doctor on duty. Blind in the left eye. A few hours away from meeting a Retina Specialist.

Count your blessings.

Sage advice

Sure, count your blessings. Everyone knows this.

The pro-tip is this: Count your blessings, all day, everyday.

Home turbulence

This morning’s quick call to fix the glitch i predicted existed. The glitch revolved around a DNS issue. Bryan fixed it. Thirty minutes later, the migration was complete.

The quality of your life is from the quality of your priorities.

dad

Priorities are multi-layered.

Priorities start at the top-line level with a handful of categories.

Mine are…

Mind.

Body.

Spirit.

Work.

Home

Each of the top-line priorities has a subset of priorities.

Each subset has a subset.

You can drill this down to the most granular level.

Kinda like all the steps it takes for a mountain to become grains of sand.
