We survived Milton, home

23-second video: 2:30 PM local update. The next few day’s weather will be conducive to cleanup.

Today is a mental and physical rest day.

Prioritizing this rest day over starting the cleanup today.

This rest day also facilitates waiting for water to lower. A win-win.

i want to close today’s posts with this:

We have not yet seen the impending, televised, devastating impact at Milton’s landfall region.

i am apprehensive to view the upcoming updates.

Why?

Because in the last 24 hours Milton drifted slightly to the south, we (Orlando) were spared a direct hit. And not only that, we wound up on the weakest wind-strength side.

Orlando’s gain is another’s nightmare.

Being on a hurricane’s weak side is the Universe randomly extending us amazing Grace.

That said, the Universe didn’t punish anyone, but those in the direct path could feel that way.

Finally, Cheryl and i have had ‘the peddle to the metal’ since 4:00 AM Sunday. That’s 100 hours of intense emotional and physical investment to weather this unprecedented storm.

Curse you Hurricane Milton, home

 Bathroom tub full of water
Water for convenient toilet flushing, should we want/need it.

We expect power to go off.

Could be off for hours, days, or weeks.

On a well, you expect when power goes off, you’ll face a unique proposition: what do you do when you flush a toilet and there’s no water to refresh the bowl? We could use pool water to refresh the bowl. Or we could use water from the tub.

All hands on deck, home

Walt Disney world advertisement on the Lyft app
In hindsight from last night, you cannot live here without understanding Mickey Mouse’s influence on our way of life.

We accomplished much in our 10-hours of daylight.

Cheryl made lobster tails for dinner. We expect power to quit soon.

We also have three more frozen lobster tails destined to become tomorrow’s dinner.

Back to back homemade lobster dinners is a weird Hurricane Milton perk.

Hurricane Milton forecast
Do you see that, bottom-center? It’s f*cked up: 180mph sustained winds. Not gusts, sustained. Unprecedented! It’s only gonna get worse. Which is also messed up. This is my first post in 30,000+ posts that uses the “f” word. Sorry.

We are almost wheels down in Orlando (but not quite), and all i can think about is how much i love blogging.

Why?

Why do you think?

When you get to think (the key element) and write about your daily observations, you are doing the daily reps that grant you entry into the Universe’s Grace. And granted, at best, novice understanding.

Novice understanding is the pinnacle of human achievement. Humans are literally clueless how the Universe works.

Ps. Pray for Florida. My amateur prediction is that America will collectively cry for humanity from the devastation Milton reeks on Florida.

Unprecedented.

Incomprehensible.

it’s now 1030 PM Orlando time.

From here on out it anyone’s guess what the Universe has in store for this moment in time.

Hurricane Milton forecast
Here’s a prelude to tomorrow. This screenshot is 4:00 AM tomorrow.

Leaving two weeks before i thought we would erases all the creative ideas i had for how spend the remaining days.

We had an extraordinary opportunity to do stuff we’ve never done. Never. How exciting and blessed is that?
